Who shall investigate the investigators (a J6 committee update)!

Speech and debate clause.
Speech and Debate clause only protects members of Congress for legislatives acts Destroying evidence, obstructing official proceedings or criminal investigations, tampering with witnesses, isn't covered by that.

You really are stupid

Can’t they tell the “committee” to pound sand?
If the “they” you clearly alluded to are smart, they won’t. That would be contempt of Congress. And not, now, it would GET prosecuted.

So sorry, konnie.

None of that has anything to do with not responding to a congressional subpoena.

It’s just delusional.

DoJ has no means to enforce a subpoena for anything protected by the speech and debate clause.

So those convicted of violence get pardoned while those elected by voters get 'investigated'. The new normal.
Those elected by voters who clearly broke laws deserve to be investigated.

And save your pearl clutching for a forum where your nonsense is accepted. Maybe the Daily Kos?

And some of those who were convicted of violence don’t get pardoned. Do try to keep up. Some only received some clemency.

Also, although a minor point, I don’t agree with the President in pardoning or giving clemency to those who did commit acts of violence.

Cheney isn't a member of congress anymore either.
But she’s subpoenaed about information protected by the speech and debate clause.

Congress can try to enforce it if they want, but the DoJ can’t do anything.

Unless it’s Trump, of course. Investigating when he broke laws is “political persecution”.

What speech and debate clause?

This wasn't from a speech or a debate, it was from hearings, made under oath.

The DOJ isn't involved until someone ignores a Congressional Subpoena.

DoJ wasn’t involved when Jim Jordan and his buddies ignored subpoenas because it’s only up to Congress to enforce their own subpoenas on people who engage in activity under the speech and debate clause.

Yes, the speech and debate clause is interpreted widely to include all matters under legislative duties including hearings.

Then why did Bannon go to jail for ignoring his?

What speech and debate clause?

What the fuck are you referencing?

Because he had no constitutional protections to shield him from having to comply.

The one in the constitution. Is there another speech and debate clause?

"The Senators and Representatives" of Congress "shall in all Cases, except Treason, Felony, and Breach of the Peace, be privileged from Arrest during their attendance at the Session of their Respective Houses, and in going to and from the same; and for any Speech or Debate in either House, they shall not be questioned in any other Place."

If you read it, it's about sitting Senators and Reps, it's about during session attendance, and going to and from said session, and evidently by the last line they can be questioned in the House itself.

It applies much more broadly. It wouldn’t be very effective if it disappeared after they left office.

Yes, they can be questioned by the House, but th House has very limited means to encode it. It can’t be enforced by the DoJ.

shall not be questioned, is the Constitutional term.
So, your understanding of the Costitutional speech and debate clause protections is essentially the same as complete immunity from investigation and prosecution even if the member has committed criminal acts in that capacity?

I doubt your view carries much weight.
