Who owned a Studebaker Golden Hawk?

In 1967, that was really quick. Some new cars today from the dealer floor do it in something like 8 seconds or faster
Yeah, it's not impressive by today's musclecar standards, but that Camaro would swap ends if you floored it doing 50, lol.

None of that traction control bullshit, plus you could work on your own cars back then...

I opened a speed garage in 1961. I know just what you are saying. I built drag cars. Actually a lot of drag racers liked traction help. At least in CA when I lived there. I took out the Differential one time of one of my 1956 Chevys and welded the gears. I was able to have the same traction by both rear wheels. But it sure was rough on tire wear. Positraction was a lot better. My Cadillac has positraction. I was just reading how to disable it. I won't do that.

Yeah, I had posi but that 396 was so torquey it was still hard to hook up. Traction bars and ladder bars were big back then. Modern muscle cars have a lot of technology we didn't have.

My nephew has a Tesla Model 3. He was goofing around with his dad one day, playing with the traction control in a gravel parking lot. He would floor it, and he couldn't get it to throw any rocks, but it would vibrate the ground in such a way that it actually un-compacted the gravel! My brother said he could just scoop up handfuls of loose gravel from the tire tracks bare-handed. Pretty wild. :p
