Who let the DOGE out?

Yes. Simple until you realize that means lower Social Security payments, Medicare payments, Medicaid payments, military spending and salaries, Agricultural subsidies, etc. etc. Then their lobbyists get on the phone...
NO, NO, NO, NO, NO!
Stop lying!
I'd send Welfare back to the states, they can put the lazy bastards to work if they are able to work.
Medicare and Medicaid are full of FRAUD. They don't track dead people across platforms as an example.
Trump is pissed that the same medicine costs more in the US than in other countries, as an example.

Cutting $2T may not happen in year-1,
I'm not sure how much low hanging fruit there is, but we do know that the Federal Budget is bloated and needs to be cut severely, without cutting entitlements. Getting rid of millions of illegals should also be a good start.

Give education back to the states where it used to be. At least there are several states that
will be giving the children a proper education,
Reading
Writing
Arithmetic
History
etc.
MEISTER’s back!!! :smiliehug:

Cutting federal spending by 4% across the board would be a MAGNIFICENT achievement by comparison to the current Federal Track Record of ever-increasing YoY inflation adjusted expenditures. Personally, I'd like to see a 90% reduction but one can't reasonably expect to get everything one wants.
Beware: block grants don't usually get used for their intended purpose...
So what? That's on the State Governments who have to answer to voters that a far closer to them than they are to the unelected bureaucrats in Washington D.C.

HOW MUCH DOES THEIR SALARY COST TAXPAYERS?

The government spent $271 billion on salary and benefits for those workers in the 2022 fiscal year, according to the Congressional Budget Office, equal to 4.3% of total spending that year.

Wouldn't that be up to them? Which members of the House and Senate are going to kill it?

Still costs money. I know (I did).

YES! It is a much more efficient distributor of education. Note the German system is similar in some form to most educational systems in Europe.
I am sure president Musk will give it his full attention.

An interesting note: 4% of the budget is for salaries and benefits. Wipe it all out and replace with droids and you are still blowing out the budget.
1. The House and Senate will face fiscal reality. One more downgrade and US Debt becomes JUNK. The interest on the Debt is crowding out discretionary spending. If kids do not need a 4-year degree to succeed why make them spend/borrow so much?

2. True, but community college means many can live at home and save a ton of money.

3. Glad we agree on the German education/training system. Lets hope Vivek & Elon set up something similar.

4. If we can get to the German model we won't need as much College Student Aid. We shouldn't have to pay for ANY Elementary & Secondary education, that should all be state and local. The remaining ED budget would get block granted to the states.

I remember when they used to flunk students who failed in proficiency, not any longer.

That is because the standard was proficiency. It was the measure of successful education.
Now the standard is to just move them through and get them out of the system.
The measure of success now is just to survive the next batch of idiots thrown at you.

Congrats. you have saved 4% if you did that for all government spending. https://www.reuters.com/world/us/who-are-us-federal-workers-that-trump-musk-want-trim-2024-11-19/
Beware: block grants don't usually get used for their intended purpose...

Note: I am for more efficient government but I have heard that song and dance since Nixon.
Yep, the 1984 Grace Commission recommendations could have wiped out the Debt way back, but the coxuckers in congress wouldn't approve them.

I believe the term went from classroom to "holding pen".

What about all the government retirees who set up a one-man contracting firm and then bill the taxpayer for TWICE the amount they were earning PLUS getting $100,000 in retirement pay. We need to crack down on this too - it’s highway robbery.

Its still 4%.

All salaries.
That just shows how much money the govt wastes.

Once everyone is back to the office and working full days, we will clearly see how we don’t need all these redundant employees. Did they all really think they could get away working three or four hours a day for $150,000 - $180,000 a year forever?

Our education system has become an indoctrination camp
Every politically controlled educational system will inculcate the doctrine of state supremacy sooner or later. . . . Once that doctrine has been accepted, it becomes an almost superhuman task to break the stranglehold of the political power over the life of the citizen. It has had his body, property and mind in its clutches from infancy. An octopus would sooner release its prey. A tax-supported, compulsory educational system is the complete model of the totalitarian state. –Isabel Paterson, The God of the Machine (1943)
