The cities were infected by then. The social agendas were in full stream and growing. Cities with strong Catholic leanings and a large number of schools were closing down left and right. Near half the students in cities affected going to school were in Parochial Schools. The Public-School costs mushroomed as the Catholic Schools closed. The state, local, and city taxes mushroomed as well. The ghettos remained or move some block one way or the other. Some worn down had gentrification with the new singles and many called Yuppies. Many ethnic neighborhoods died. Taxes were low before the great emancipation. Most families had one income and survived. It was not easy for many. Yet they did. People looked out for each other. The mothers took control of children on the streets when they did not listen. No matter who they were. Homemakers today are looked at as vile slaves to toxic masculinity. Those moms ruled back then. And God forbid they even nurtured. So, cities need more taxes and fees and anything else to survive now. States are on the hook to keep cities going. I know. You keep harping that red states receive federal money. Of course, the breakdown of that money and where it goes is never spouted. We are not utopia as endless money spent has not turned us into it.
