Zone1 Who created all things?

You went from Jesus probably didn't exist to Jesus probably did exist.

For my next trick I'll get you to say religion is highly dangerous and should be banned. Oh wait, I already did that.
Like most all Catholics it is useless to argue with you. Instead of addressing the falsity of your beliefs you divert. Must be comforting for you not to have to look in the mirror as to why you believe things that are as ludicrous as a belief that some god causes thunder and worldwide flooding that kills all life that wasn't on the boat.

Oh, WAIT!

I was very busy that week.

I call it a week.

But, of course, it took a lot longer depending on how you calculate the passage of “time,” especially in the “time” before “time.”

But I don't believe that God did kill everyone but 8 people with a flood. I believe that that account was an allegorical portrayal of an historic event; a great flood that was outside of the norm that was probably caused by an asteroid striking the ocean. And that they used embellishment to make the point that failed behaviors lead to failure and successful behaviors lead to success and to make the account more entertaining and memorable so that it was easier to remember and pass down.

So, you're one who picks and chooses what in the bible is allegory even though the bible nowhere says that particular story is. At least you are honest that the bible can't be taken literally and is a collection of made-up stories of cataclysmic and other events. In other words, a work of fiction with some facts thrown in all intended to make people believe there is some invisible being out there watching us and keeping score to determine if we graduate when we die. Tell me though, how does one decide the truth of whether or not something written by unknown people 3-4 years ago is made up allegory?

Reason and logic decides. These accounts were thousands of years old before being recorded in writing. Until then they were passed down orally from generation to generation. Because that's how knowledge and wisdom were passed down 6,000 years ago.

Of course the story is nonsense that is only foisted on children. Atheists don't believe it either. But we don't believe it should be taught to children. The majority of Christians will go on to live their adult lives believing in the lie.

You and I agree then. The Bible is a collection of myths, fables and stories. Who knew?

Donald, that story is just one of many intended beyond any doubt whatsoever to instill fear into young impressionable children. Cults and politicians do this to humans and know that the younger the humans are the more easily persuaded that those in authority are telling them the truth. As long as humans have been around is as long as fear was the number one emotion used to make them believe because belief in elders was mandated by evolution in order to survive.

Many, many Christians ask men why I bother, and why does it matter if adults believe these sorts of things. What's it to me in other words? It's because it dumbs down society to have adults believe in a vengeful god that rewards people not for reason and logic and common sense, but for a belief. For instance, Ding here is an engineer. Can anyone imagine someone that uses math and facts and having to be exact because someone's life may depend on it relying on a belief in his plans to build a high-rise or airplane or vehicle?? No. No one with any sense would do that.

Yet, otherwise sane and intelligent humans believe in miracles, a human rising from the dead after 3 days, people coming up from their graves when he did, prayer is answered even though studies and common sense show otherwise, etc. Can anyone imagine another operating that way in their jobs, relationships or otherwise? No, they don't. But adults pretend like they are children believing in Santa Claus when they are 30. Others know they are pretending and they know they are but no one wants to spoil their secret.

Not just children! Until Darwin, it was intended for adults and was accepted as literally true by almost all adult Christians. The stories may still be accepted as true by a majority of Christians?

You don't owe Christians an excuse for why you bother. Nor do I.

Ding and other reasonably intelligent Christians don't believe the bible bullshit as being literally true. He's not trying to say otherwise. Stick to that argument and you won't have to bother debating him on any issue of importance to Christians.

And too, you might want to keep reminding him and Meriweather that their church sold out to Darwinian evolution sometime around 1950! At best they'll argue the year!

If you do a search on AI, meaning places like Google, AI, or Copilot it is interesting that you get answers one would expect from a religious apologist. This is because of inputs into the computer banks and who inputs it. I discovered that they use Wikipedia in many cases and you may know that Wiki allows people to input information into Wiki. I found that many priests, pastors, and apologists input the Wiki data.

I thought about this and a light bulb went off. This is how humanity was indoctrinated in the early days of Christianity and how and why it took hold and was believed. I compare this to today's TV anchors getting talking points from politicians and the majority of TV anchors repeating what they get over and over and over again. People hear and read things from those oracles in authority and believe it. Their friends are saying "Musk and Trump and bad guys and they don't wnt to be let out so they believe it and act on what they hear and try to assassinate Trump and bun Teslas,

Gaslighting has been going on since the ancient times and why people believed in myth and Greek gods, that kings were divine,m that Jesus was here to save us because of continual repetition.

I wouldn't have expected you to see it any other way, Donny.

You and Donny see eye to eye on Russia. You two probably have a lot in common. He's a militant atheist communist too.

That's quite the conspiracy theory you have there.

We understand each other very well now that you have accepted that your bible is not literally true!

There's just nothing on which we disagree that's as important as agreeing on that my friend!

I've understood you since the day you arrived. There's a good chance this isn't your first account here.

Relax! The Catholic church sold the 'creation' farm in favour of evolution. What's left to debate,, unless you want to waste your time debating the stupid ones? Some of them will even try to tell you that the god made a big fish especially for jonah!

You're not going to catch Ding or Meriweather preaching the 'literally true' bible lies. LOL

The former has completely sold out the farm, while the latter understands it's best not to get into it.

Believe what you like but just don't try to buy back the 'literally true' bible bullsh-t.

You made the sale final on that!

I sleep like a baby at night knowing not all behaviors lead to equal outcomes.

I didn't want to make my previous post overly long but will continue it. In the 1960s the Catholic church had various meetings of high up officials. It was then that they changed radically and when I questioned AI their response was that they reached a deeper understanding of scripture regarding the subjugation of women and homosexuality.

That means they were wrong for almost 2,000 years and only now (in the 60s) did they discover that, meaning that their understanding of scripture was not "deeper" for all that time.

The real reason was that even in the 60s people were rebelling against the church and leaving. To stem the flow and keep parishioners they changed their former "understanding of scripture." The church is all about money and power and we see how they wielded it when they ruled the world. Bloodthirsty and torture freaks, drunk with power and money from the time of Constantine who built them churches and gave them land and money (so they asserted after he died).

Like anyone with power who is evil, they thrived on suppressing and silencing which was enforced by the church through blasphemy laws.
