You and I agree then. The Bible is a collection of myths, fables and stories. Who knew?
Donald, that story is just one of many intended beyond any doubt whatsoever to instill fear into young impressionable children. Cults and politicians do this to humans and know that the younger the humans are the more easily persuaded that those in authority are telling them the truth. As long as humans have been around is as long as fear was the number one emotion used to make them believe because belief in elders was mandated by evolution in order to survive.
Many, many Christians ask men why I bother, and why does it matter if adults believe these sorts of things. What's it to me in other words? It's because it dumbs down society to have adults believe in a vengeful god that rewards people not for reason and logic and common sense, but for a belief. For instance, Ding here is an engineer. Can anyone imagine someone that uses math and facts and having to be exact because someone's life may depend on it relying on a belief in his plans to build a high-rise or airplane or vehicle?? No. No one with any sense would do that.
Yet, otherwise sane and intelligent humans believe in miracles, a human rising from the dead after 3 days, people coming up from their graves when he did, prayer is answered even though studies and common sense show otherwise, etc. Can anyone imagine another operating that way in their jobs, relationships or otherwise? No, they don't. But adults pretend like they are children believing in Santa Claus when they are 30. Others know they are pretending and they know they are but no one wants to spoil their secret.
