Kid just didn't get how crazy the topic of race can be sometimes.

Oftentimes, kids who don't grow up in a racist environment don't quite get how their inside joke with friends of another race can be taken completely differently from someone they've never met.

It's kind of weird... I don't know whether to be overjoyed by this kid's naivety about race (indicating that he doesn't harbor a racist streak and that we're as a country making progress to the point where kids can be naive about race) or a bit disappointed that he didn't have an inkling of the complicated history of race relations in the U.S. and what his joke project could have resulted in.

What complicated history? I think Jesse, Al and I would agree: there's nothing complicated about racial history in America. A lot of bullshit, maybe, but nothing complicated.
