I was home on leave from boot camp

In our family living room. My father brought a brand new Zenith Color console TV for the event and he was furious when the broadcast from the moon was black and white.

I was sitting in front of the TV, like any normal, brainless American 6 year old.

In front of the TV. I don't really remember much having been barely five years old. Everyone was excited so I was excited too.

I was a little over four and actually remember watching it with my parents.
Made me a rocket geek and sci fi addict.

The entire event bored by 13 year old self and dragged on forever. Neil Armstrong stepping on the moon didn't interest me as much as Lost in Space or other docudramas about outer space exploration that were in vogue at that time.

I don't remember because I was 4 years old. I'm sure my family was watching. My older brother was big into the moon landings. I remember watching some of the other space missions as I got older.

Was glued to the teevee.....Remember the audio of the landing itself like it was just yesterday.

I was in the well house. We had a big storm that knocked the power out. When it came back on it was my turn to go and prime the pump and get it started again. Ah, the joys of growing up out in the country. I did get see some of it later. Amazing what can be accomplished with enough money and commitment.
