Where is the Tea Party?

The top 1% of earners pay 40% of the federal income tax. The top 20% provides 80% of that funding.

The purpose of taxation is to fund the essential functions of government. Not create social or economic equity amongst the American people.

I agree. The federal government doesn't need any revenue to buy all that stuff. How do you stop them? All they have to do is abolish the Federal Reserve, press print, and spend like crazy. The Federal Reserve is the only mechanism in place to keep spending in check. Otherwise we rely solely on the disciplined habits of our elected leaders. Sometimes we have to look at the world from the reality of human behavior rather than the potential of human behavior. Just because someone should doesn't mean they will.

It is better to plan from what will be rather than what should be. There is less confusion that way. We already know what is going to happen. Don't we? I think it is better to pay for these irresponsible behaviors with taxation rather than through borrowing. The irresponsible spending will always happen. We need more taxation not less. If wealthy investors are burdened by American taxation then they will move to other countries. They can do that. They are wealthy. It is pretty self regulating if you think about it. Politicians need wealthy citizens to keep the game going. They aren't going to scare them off with excessive taxation. Trust me. You will be fine if you make $30,000,000 per year and have to pay 80% in taxes. You'd still have $6,000,000 to work with to make ends meet. I have a feeling most people could make that work but if you feel sorry for them then perhaps you could send them all the money you have to help them survive. Personally I think they will be alright.

You are worrying about the wrong things in life. Just enjoy the fruits of your own labor. Don't worry about those ultra millionaires and billionaires. They will be just fine without your help.

Taxation is the price we pay to live in a civilized society
There is a saying as old as civilization; "The only certainty in life is death and taxes."

Students of history, if they have learned what it can teach, will realize that most 'civilizations' have been far from equitable, didn't have the full range of personal rights such as in the USA, and were seldom an ideal way to live for most of their citizens. i.e.; most "civilized society" has benefited only a small percent of it's members, and for the masses has shown many uncivilized aspects.

Taxation isn't always in form of money. In many earliest civilizations it was in form of labor (for the "king") and a portion of your crops(or other production) to the rulers ~ often a flat amount, not a percent. If you produced only 100 bushels and the "king's" share was a flat 50 bushels, you(and your family) have to survive the year on 50 bushels. If you produced 150 bushels, than after the "king" took his 50, you were left with 100 to live off of.

The bushels produced are wealth and this example shows how wealth is not finite, but can vary. The "king's" share shows the difference between a flat fee form of taxation versus a percentage. If the "king" demanded 50%, than when you produced 150 bushel's he would get 75, not 50.

Ahh yes, the Tea Party. Teabaggers is another name as well. Not sure where they are 😀
It was TEA Party, where TEA = Taxed Enough Already. And was more a loose organization~concept than a membership, card carrying, dues paying formal organization.
"Teabaggers" was a derisive label applied by the Leftist~socialist~communist deadbeat non-producers who live off the taxes.
"they" morphed into more effective and focused new organizations, with similar agenda.

First, I'll recommend this site, which shows dozens of relevant numbers/data on the USA economy and Guv'mint spending. It also has a "time machine" function that let's one see comparable figures going back to 1980.

I don't think you understood what "tahuyaman" was saying. If we fudge a bit, we could say that the of the total Gross Domestic Product(GDP) of @ $26.4 Trillion, Guv'mint in form of Local/State/Federal revenue takes @ $6.9+ Trillion while spending @ $9.9+ Trillion. A Spending to GDP ratio of about 37.49%.

So if 1% is paying 40% of the Federal Revenue(taxes) of about $4.7 Trillion, than they are paying @ $1.88 Trillion.
If the top 20% are paying 80% of the taxes than that would be @ $3.76 Trillion.
Which means that the other 19% have paid a matching @ $1.88 Trillion.

Meanwhile, the other 80% of the population is paying the remainder of @ $.94 Trillion. BUT, since 50% of the population pays no taxes, than that balance is only being paid by the other 30%.
Basically, only half the population is paying their way, and one out of five (or one out of 10 total actually) is paying 4/5ths of the total.
Would seem to anyone with brains~common sense~honesty that the "Rich" are paying more than their fair share.
BTW, this isn't factoring how many taxpayers are being paid by government emplopyment, which means their taxes are a sort of kickback program and distorts the real demographic of whom is paying for what.

The difference is that the kings share went to his personal wealth.
We are a society of “We the People”
Taxes go on behalf of the people of the society

The TEA Party was manipulated to protest to provide lower tax rates for the wealthy

No. I understood. I just don't stay up at night feeling sorry for the rich people paying too much in taxes. I have other problems more pressing in my life.

The tea party was an astroturfing operation by wealthy national socialists to oppose a black president.
