I ran into this very same issue on another thread. Unfortunately this just further shows how poor our current public education system really is. The quality of our schools are really heading to the bottom of the barrel when compared to other nations who are far superior with their "quality" of education. Unfortunately the liberal Democrats will continue to spread THAT lie, with respect to racism and slavery in America, because they are counting on their supporters to NOT educate themselves. It's all to better serve in the advancement of the Democrats political machine. It's sad really.

Where did you study the History of the United States? Are you a woeful troll or simply ignorant? Anyone who posts on a political message board and comments on American history ought to know that political parties evolve (or in the case of the GOP, devolve).

I didn't say the GOP was "racist." I said (or implied) that the party has abandoned the strong stance on civil rights that was part of its definition from the 1850s until the 1960s. The party has never in fact been as racist as one segment of the Democrats used to be, and that kind of overt racism no longer exists in our politics.

The implication of this thread is that the Republicans are better than the Democrats on issues of racial equality. That's bullshit (although it was once true), but saying that is not equivalent to saying that the GOP is full of KKKers or Stormfronters, which seems to be what you are asking me to prove. A strawman, of course.

Robert Byrd will be remembered by lots of things: His love for dogs and hyperbole, his ability to funnel federal dollars into make-work jobs in his native West Virginia, his loathing of balanced budgets and the fact that he skillfully conned several generations of Appalachian woodhicks into voting for him, over and over again, for almost six decades.

In passing, Sen. Byrd will also be remembered for having joined the Ku Klux Klan as a “young man.”
