When You're The Only White Person In The Room

Everyone should aspire to being a racial minority sometime in their lives. I've found the experience quite extraordinary, and it has added much to understanding life on this planet.

Yes. Sometimes it helps to really try on the skin of another person...and to experience the world from his point of view.

Tracy Andrus has a book about that.

A little old school but was recommended to me by someone on this board. Pretty much echoed what my grandfather told me about white people.

...you're the only white person in the room. Not really a big deal.

When You're The Only White Person In The Room

You're probably lost. :D

Not all white people are afraid of Black people like you are.
Afraid of what? Their lower IQ?

Why would you be afraid of your low IQ?

I've been the only white person in the room. And in the neighborhood. While I've experienced some nastiness from people who don't want to be seen being nice to a white person, I've found that respect and open friendliness goes a long way. As for the racist assholes, there're assholes when you're in a room full of other white people, too.
