When you can't believe the evil you see all around you.. Jesus told us WHY

You know what I have never heard? I have never heard a person born of a mother faced with choice of abortion who said---yeah. Mom should have aborted me. Or if that person is out there he is very rare.

God saw all of it ahead of time--God is omniscient--and decided it was worth it. You're aborted if He didn't.
Another stupid example.

No one who hasn't been born can want anything

And even the bible says that life begins with the first breath

And no I would not let a pedophile babysit my kids. Neither does God engage in gratuitous destruction for no reason.
Then what do you call creating Satan and unleashing him on the people your god is supposed to love.

The analogy works just fine.

That's a dodge so that's my answer. Thanks.

At any rate the decision was God's and not yours. Thank God for that

The US has a long history of imposing morality laws on it's citizens which we have had to eventually do away with
Question: Theoretically, say there were areas of the country people could choose to live moral lives. Those who wanted to drink excessively, do drugs, gamble, etc. were banned. They had their own area. Would you support such an idea?

Consenting adults should be allowed to do whatever they want even if it is living an empty PG rated life. They should also be allowed as much drunken debauchery as they want.

My question is whether you would agree that the two could separate and the immoral would agree to respect the boundaries. They would live and find jobs in the immoral community only.

This already occurs in Mennonite and Amish communities and to a lesser extent for the Mormons. I have no problem with that If they mind their own business but it's a big problem when they try to make everyone else live by their rules. Our American evangelicals have a pretty harsh secular agenda that makes it clear they do not believe in free will. To them the straight and narrow path needs to be bordered with a 20 foot wall with razor wire on top.

I'll be fine. If you don't know what I am talking about I can assure you that at one time there have been laws banning everything you probably think ought to be banned. It didn't work out. We still have alcohol, drugs, titty dancing, gambling, gays, interracial marriage, prostitution, porn, dancing, cursing, smoking, caffeine and being horny on Sunday despite religious people at one trying to stamp out all these things.

uh... hello

that's bc we don't have LAWS against it anymore

St Augustine said something 2 the effect that the civil order should punish all or most sins because people left to their own devices will sin their asses off (my words of course)

and that is destructive of not only society but more importantly (to a priest or bishop like himself): individual souls

I am beginning to totally agree, though I was once a little too... i dunno... Americanized? to believe otherwise

Quit acting like you know the mind of God. If such a thing were knowable we would not have a thousand religions trying to convince people their guess is better than all the others.

What is knowable has been made known. Of course there are counterfeits. It's the most important aspect of our being. If there is counterfeit money and counterfeit marriages etc why should there not be counterfeit religions?

Alcohol--so what
Drugs--not great
titty dancing--who's doing the dancing and watching?
gambling--like casting lots?
gays--a sin in the OT and NT
interracial marriage--lol
prostitution--is this good for the prostitute?
porn--Rots your brain. You then can't perform. This is science.
Dancing--lol
cursing--I try not to. But I don't get bent when I hear it
smoking--???
caffeine--Do I look Mormon? Are Mormons even Christian?
Being Horny on Sundays---dude that's warped

Were you raised by Puritans? If so why are you so small minded you STILL think all evangelicals are like that? What if I knew a bad flock of Islamic extremists and went popping off at the mouth like you do?

Nope.

What people do on their own time in their own homes is no one else's business

Equating the occasional hit on the hash pipe or glass of bourbon on the rocks with immorality is quite a stretch. Did you warm up first because you could hurt yourself
