When will Congress come down on NPR?

Taking great pains to control my gag reflex, I listened to NPR's "Weekend Edition" for about an hour this morning whilst running my Saturday errands.

It might have been produced by the Democratic National Committee. Every single story was either pumping up Hillary or mocking and castigating Trump (and anyone who supports him).

For balance, they had an interview with a "Republican" who is so disgusted with Trump that he will vote for Hillary.

Jesus Fucking Christ!

Congress should permanently de-fund this garbage. The initial rationale for NPR is no longer valid. With the plethora of other media outlets, including the internet, talk radio, and thousands of paper publications reflecting every conceivable viewpoint, there is no reason for "public" radio to exist. And with their grotesque bias on top of that, it should immediately be de-funded. If they can find enough sponsors and donations to survive, fine, but otherwise, go away. Just go away.

NPR, like the dept of Ed only get 7-10% from funding at the federal level...The rest is through fund raising...I know, I worked for the University of Arkanass radio station which is an NPR affiliate.....I hated the fund raising season, and that goes for PBS also....

Yes, they are constantly interrupting their broadcasts pleading for alms.

They are no different than the phony TV pastors who rely on their hordes of check-writing nincompoops to stay above water.

That said, at least they have some decent programming.

I don't listen to it often, but I'm pretty sure they covered the RNC the same way during its week. Public radio not paid for by Cialis and My Pillow is a good thing.

They do, I was a DJ for in between shows..We always payed classical music. It was better at that station, and the people were nicer and better organized than at any of the talk-net and rock stations I have worked at..

I liked it better when they and journalism took a neutral tone...yet after the 1990's era of "extreme" broadcasting it all changed...
