My assumption is ICE agents continue to violate the rights of Americans, and immigrants, because they know the regime has their back.
What I'd like to see once the Dem's retake the House in 2026 is Homan, Noem, Bondi, forced to face a congressional investigation in to what they've done.

Was Lander a legal representative of the immigrant? He can ask for a judicial warrant all he likes. Can you point to the law/regulation that states that ICE or any law enforcement officers has to fulfill his demand? I know that you can't because that law/regulation doesn't exist. Once he locked arms to prevent him from being arrested, that's a wrap. You or I would also get arrested if we tried something that galactically stupid.

Lander's running for mayor of NYC and needed something to get his name out there because he has no shot of winning the nomination. He now has his viral moment, and democrats will swoon that he's "stunning and brave", but in the big picture, it means very little.

You are correct in citing ICE doesn't need a warrant to arrest immigrants in a public setting. Which is why they do so as immigrants leave a court hearing they have dutifully appeared at.

What you regard as being galactically stupid may very well have been a considered decision by Lander to keep the focus on the regime's denial of procedures these immigrants are entitled to before they are detained and deported.

Did Lander use the event for publicity? Perhaps. Is that any worse than the regime using these arrests as a way to intimidate advocates for immigrants who want to see them get due process? Not IMO.

I really don't care what someone who's running for office wants to try and justify their action for publicity. The question out front is did he have any authority for ICE to show him a judicial warrant for his arrest, and did he have any authority to try and block law enforcement to do their job. He had neither.

What procedures are they entitled to? They're entitled to due process, but the law of the land does allow for expedited deportation, that allow for the immediate deportation of an illegal immigrant is allowed without a formal hearing. That would be considered the proper amount of due process. Remember Obama being known as the "Deporter-in-chief"? He had DHS use expedited deportation to deport millions of illegal immigrants.

WTF is he doing spending all day watching illegals court proceedings? He’s in charge of the finances of a state up to its eyeballs in debt, a lot of which is because of these illegals and this is how he spends his time?

Lander was arrested just days after President Donald Trump ordered ICE officials to increase immigration raids in cities predominantly led by elected Democrats. New York was among the cities Trump singled out in his order.

“These, and other such cities, are the core of the Democrat Power Center, where they use Illegal Aliens to expand their Voter Base, cheat in Elections, and grow the Welfare State, robbing good paying Jobs and Benefits from Hardworking American Citizens,” Trump claimed, repeating unfounded election conspiracies about Democrats encouraging undocumented immigrants to vote.

He's the comptroller of NYC. His job is to be the chief financial officer and chief auditor of city agencies of how they're spending their money. Show me any evidence that that Lander is a legal attorney and was representing the immigrant in a legal capacity.

Show me any evidence his assertion, that immigrants (like the one he accompanied) are routinely being denied hearings to determine the validity of their applications for asylum, are being arrested before such hearings are held. He also noted many of these folks are without legal representation.

Since he's the comptroller, how would he know that illegals are being denied asylum hearings? What access does he have to make that determination? If there are all these people and since he goes to the court so much, wouldn't be up to him to produce names of people who are being denied asylum hearings and being arrested before such hearings? ICE does not deal with citizens with full, constitutional rights, they deal with invading, illegal, undocumented aliens whose rights are quite a bit less, and I fully authorize ICE to use a very wide latitude of efforts and methods, whatever they need to do, to get this criminal element out of our country.
