But, you leave out the important fact that last election, Trump was also had dismal poll numbers and won big.

So because lightning struck once you think it "HAS" to strike again? Trump was well behind in 2016 but closed the gap in the closing days (do mostly to the Comey intervention.)

Trump was running further behind in 2020 and try as he might...he just couldn't get that "Hunter Biden Laptop" story to take off.

It was just too blatant. It was just too transparent. People could see that Trump and Rudy were trying to recreate 2016 .

A more often heard theory at the time, that I ever heard expressed by liberals from the MSM, was that either their methods were failing to accurately count conservatives, OR that conservatives, due to the dangers of being identified as conservatives in today's America, were habitually avoiding or lying to pollsters.


If that popular theory was true, then one could expect that the polls numbers for any republican would remain artificially low, until the problem was fixed, which we had no reason to believe had happened.


Leaving all of this out of the op linked article, turns it's talk of "alternate reality" on it's head. It is you liberals who need to pretend that your enemies have no valid reasons for their beliefs or actions, and that only you are justified in,


well, everything.


And it is telling that you have similar beliefs for EVERY significant issue. EVERY time, there is a narrative given to you, that explains why your way of thinking is the ONLY POSSIBLE way of thinking, unless one is a "bad person" or a "Wacist" or some type of "phobe".


You are the ones who have retreated to a fantasy world, where you are always right and never lose, not legitimately.

Diehard Trumpers can transport to their alternate universe. Most of us accept the simple, straightforward reality of this one.

As far as I can tell, this madness will only decrease in two ways:

First, with time. And we're already seeing some of that, as a few brave, honest, select Republicans are pulling away. Almost like a fever that just needs to run its course. Haley was good to see. A momentum needs to be created, rather than a revolt against the insanity.

Second, at least one core voice (Trump himself, or Hannity, or someone like Hawley) has to find a way to loudly and clearly reverse course while somehow saving their own skin. That will be much tougher. But I want to believe that they're looking for a way to do it.

Those two things have to happen, in tandem. Until then, all we can do is watch and hope for the best.

If President Biden had been receiving relentlessly dismal poll numbers for four years, and he had lost the election by seven million votes, he would have been screaming, with no evidence, that he had actually won in a "landslide!" He would have bleated "Fraud!" He would have raged against honest election officials. He would have filed dozens of frivolous court challenges. He would have threatened governors who would not falsify the vote in his favor. He would have been very pissy about an Attorney General telling him it was a legitimate election. He would have prepped ugly goons to attack the Capitol and incited them to violently prevent the democratic will from being recorded. He would have never summoned the integrity to acknowledge defeat and participate in the peaceful transfer of power that has made America special, and admired throughout the world ever since its founding. Until now.

For those who feel compelled to retreat to Whataboutism and project thusly, if you need to peddle such fanciful propositions, you must accept that your version of President Biden is every bit as depraved as your Loser, so it should make little difference to you that your Loser lost.
