Are you sure the mystery is Jesus Christ? I do not believe Jesus Christ is the mystery spoken about. "Seek not for riches but for wisdom, and behold, the mysteries of God shall be unfolded unto you, and then shall you be made rich. Behold, he that hath eternal life is rich." The gifts of Christ are sacred and come from God. Through faith in Christ you shall know the mysteries of the kingdom of God, but unto the world it is not given to know them. Those in OT times knew some of the mysteries spoken by the Prophets of God. Amos 3:7, "Surely the Lord God will do nothing, but he revealeth his secret unto his servants the prophets."I agree that the Old Testament does prophecy of something or of an event or special gift coming
that would bring salvation and honor to the world,
however, the New Testament says that this was completely hidden since from the beginning of the world and had been kept secret and hidden from them,
since the very beginning...
his coming was not something the Jewish people were waiting for nor expected and the details of Jesus, WHO JESUS IS AND HIS EXISTENCE and his coming
is not mentioned in the Old Testament.
we can look to the New Testament and see how well it was hidden and how well it was kept secret while still mentioning the event that came called Jesus
but the existence and coming of Jesus was hidden and kept secret and not a part of Old Testament revelation according to the New Testament.
Rom 16:25 Now to him that is of power to stablish you according to my gospel, and the preaching of Jesus Christ, according to the revelation of the mystery, which was kept secret since the world began.
can we agree that the Old Testament mentions a mystery and not Jesus himself.
As to whether the people in OT times knew of the name "Jesus" why would they if they spoke Hebrew and other languages? His name in OT was Jehovah. Yeshua is another name in Hebrew which also can be Joshua as well. His name in Isaiah 7:14 was Emmanuel meaning God is with us. 14 Therefore the Lord himself shall give you a sign; Behold, a virgin shall conceive, and bear a son, and shall call his name Immanuel. Or immanuel... Then, there is Isaiah 53 speaking of Jesus Christ. The name Jesus is not Hebrew and mankind has decided when translating the OT we keep the other names like Jehovah. The Book of Mormon has scriptures of like Isaiah in it as the time period of the book was about 600AD to 421BC. and through the translation of the plates, Joseph Smith was instructed to write the name of Jesus Christ instead of Jehovah or other names of the Christ. Christ is his title meaning Messiah and Son of the Father. Jesus the Christ. For clarification why The Book of Mormon uses Jesus instead of Jehovah, the book was written not for the people at that time, but preserved for our latter day time. So there is not misunderstanding of who Jehovah is, Jesus was inserted. Isaiah chapter 29 will now make different sense and understanding. Part of the great mysteries.
