DBA it is good to read that you and your family have made a comfortable life for yourselves. In our angst over problems we forget to honor those who have faced life's challenges and 'made it'. But (there's always a {but}) you seem to fall into the trap of thinking that all taxes go to feed lazy creeps. The taxes also go for infrastructure and grids (when we get around to it) and military (if it isn't shifted to fund elsewhere) and a myriad of national programs like roads and parks. Second- The thing is, wealth distribution really is the problem. The bottom 40% have less than 1% of the wealth while the top 1% controls 43% of the wealth. We could have universal income and not even put a dent in this disparity.

The problem is, of course, is that since 1980, the rich have gotten richer and the poor have gotten poorer. Trump (Unlike Romney) was able to convince poor dumb white people into thinking the reason they aren't doing as well their grandparents are isn't because the rich broke up their unions, but because there are brown people getting a pittance of welfare.

The wealthier have gotten wealthier. Heck, anyone with a modicum of investment sense and work ethic should be getting wealthier. The problem I have with Demoratic policy is they believe they can legislate wealth redistribution. Taking money from the wealthy to give to others in a effort to level the playing field won't work. The best that can be done is to provide people the opportunity to suceed, not just give them money. The old adage is very apropos. Give a man a fish and you will feed him for a day. Teach a man to fish and you will feed him for a lifetime. It is very much true, but Democrats do not ascribe to this philosophy. They want to take a lot of fish from the wealthy and give it to the poor, which is a short term solution.
