What to do with the $800 billion the illegal aliens send home?

You do advocate it, because you support importing illegal labor to take jobs from Americans.

I advocate that wages be set by the free market, with no interference by an arbitray "minimum wage," which isn't the minimum wage when illegals are willing to work for less. I advocate that free market not being interfered with by deliberately importing peoplw willing to work for extremely low-wages.

Cut off the flow of illegal labor, and legal labor can bargain for a living wage. Yes, farm workers should be paid a living wage, even if it means your beans, rice, and Christmas Tofurkey costs you a little more.

The "near slave labor" comment was meant to trigger you as a liberal. Wages are not paid to slaves, that comparison is left-wing foolishness.
You wanna do something about illegals working for cheap? Make it PAINFUL to hire them.

That would actually work.

The rest is just bullshit

No, pretending to oppose illegal immigration but only wanting to go after employers is just bullshit.

What happened to your concern about this?

Yeah. Pardon me for advocating a solution that would work. Probably the only one.

If we punish employers harshly, would that not drive up the cost of goods, as you were concerned about in the previous post?

Yes, you read that right - the illegals, while costing us $150 billion a year, send home $800 billion a year. How should Trump use this to America’s benefit?

Option 1) Tax the remittances by 25%, thereby recapturing the fortune the illegals cost America taxpayers and use it to offset their costs

Option 2) Tax the remittances by 50%, thereby recapturing the fortune we spend on them AND using the balance to secure the border and pay for deportations of criminal aliens

Option 3) Block remittances entirely, which will hurt the originating country and pressure them to take back the illegals (as some countries have said they won’t), and use the money for border security, deportations, and more

The more important question is how do you want trump to squander your money. He will cost US more money in the end.

Dude, anything we do regarding illegals is going to drive up the cost of goods.

The only question is …are we serious and how much will it drive up costs.

You clearly are NOT serious

If anything we do regarding illegals (except for the nothing that we are doing now) will drive up the costs of goods - and I'm not saying you're wrong about that - then why not simply do the right thing and deport them, while securing the border so fewer will come in?

What is the downside of that for Americans?

The problem with punishing employers as the sole strategy is that illegals will still get welfare from welfare offices whose rules forbid them from asking about immigration status, and they will still commit crimes and still traffic children.

It's absurdly illogical to say that we have to allow illegals in because some of them will take low-paid jobs so that our groceries and hotel stays will be cheaper, but then to say that the only enforcement action we should take is to punish those employers and drive those costs right back up.

I could respect you more if you just were hones and said "the Democratic Party is best for America, and we are hoping those illegals will be made legal and vote Democrat."

So we agree doing anything will drive up costs.

The question is… what will work and what will drive up costs the least.

I say addressing hiring illegals will actually work and will drive up prices the least

And voting has nothing to do with anything.

That your fear though. Losing power politically

The first part being by far the most important. The amount we would save by not being forced to cater to illegal aliens will far outway any slight increase in prices.

How could it, when there are so many other attractions in this country for illegal aliens besides low wage jobs? All punishing employers would do would have more them go on welfare or turn to crime.
and will drive up prices the least
How could that be, if you insist that employers will be forced to pay much higher wages?
And voting has nothing to do with anything.
Of course it does, whether you know it or not. Your party certainly is using that strategy.
That your fear though. Losing power politically
My only fear is the money that Americans lose by catering to illegal aliens.

Suppose we made it a felony for a federal state or local official to provide welfare benefits without checking immigrations status? That would save way more than some vague and planless idea of going after employers.

The illegals living in luxury hotels and getting free food will LOWER costs.

Welfare reform will also lower costs.

By the law of supply and demand, when Trump and Homan deport a few million illegals that will lower the demand for food and thereby lower the price of food. Especially the illegals living in luxury hotels getting free food.

I fully support charging money sent out of the US a "Remittance Tax". That tax revenue can pay for the wall and possibly ICE.

And let’s not forget that the prices of homes being depressed in areas where illegals settle will go back up on up once they’re deported.

It's usually in an area where folks are in their forever homes. Raising the appraised value raises the property taxes. That does sound like something that you would want.

Huh?

The illegals settle in working class neighborhoods, lowering the caliber of the public schools and driving down the property values as a result. Not only does it hurt the retirement of these working class couples, whose net worth is mostly home equity, but hurts their kids chances of competing for college - and even winning scholarships - against the affluent liberals who aren’t impacted.

There’s a REASON the working class went for Trump.

If your net worth is the value of your house, do you sell it, get a van and a parking spot by the river, living like a king?

NO, libbie, you use the equity to buy into an assisted living facility.

You really ARE clueless as to the harm the illegals do to the working class.
