"Fate their own making" - Isn't this what many of the Prophets of the Old Testament spoke about?

Many of the Prophets would outline what could happen if the people took a certain course and what could happen if they did not - the consequences of their actions.

To better understand it - one should know that the Old Testament was written for a people during very turbulent times - mostly poor, simple people - in the midst of wars between feuding empires - who only understood and followed "the rules of the times". The teachings of the Prophets were a "first step" towards a more peaceful civilization.

The ministry of Jesus of Nazareth was built on the foundational teachings of the Old Testament. "Love your neighbor as yourself" is taken directly from the Book of Leviticus. Jesus understood the teachings and writings of the Old Testament in a way in which no one else up to that point had taught. He was able to bring forth the Love that embodied the Old Testament; which had been overlooked by those who's hearts had been hardened.
