This is why for 10 years NATO continued to militarize Ukraine and build it up as an invasion touchpoint waiting for an excuse to go into Russia. Negotiations would have been the way out of this.

There was no way it was worth flattening and entire country, an entire people and an entire economy over what issues they pretended to have.

The real issue was that NATO had invested millions in fact billions until Ukrainian military infrastructure and don't want to lose that advantage even though that's exactly what's going to happen.
