Excellent post. I came to the same conclusion reading an exhaustive biography of Stalin. Marxism and far left political thought is a religion. Any thought outside their religious ideology is heresy. The crime for heresy if you can get away with it is death.

Stalin was a zealot. But his " faith " was in atheistic Bolshevism. The AOC's of the world see everything in black and white. Either you have her identical "faith" or you do not.

If you do not share their beliefs they will first cancel you, then silence you, and ultimately if they get their Socialist paradise the way they want they will kill you.

I am a therapist by training and I wanted to understand Stalin psychologically. He studied for the priesthood as a young man but then disavowed God. Bolshevism became his new God. He was a fanatic.

But the idea of fundamentally transforming humans to think differently and against their own best interests was not fully clear to me. But as you state, that is clearly the goal of the far left. Of course, it cannot ever happen. Human beings are hard wired to both cooperate (we are social creatures), but also to compete, succeed, and forge our own path. That is where far left ideology utterly misses, and will always miss.

I am a therapist by training and I wanted to understand Stalin psychologically. He studied for the priesthood as a young man but then disavowed God. Bolshevism became his new God. He was a fanatic.

But the idea of fundamentally transforming humans to think differently and against their own best interests was not fully clear to me. But as you state, that is clearly the goal of the far left.
