What makes humans different from all the rest

Human morality concepts are the reason for the many splintered religions and the cause of most wars and human suffering.
You must be an atheist.
Not really.
Most Atheists are smug a-holes.
Had several here call me religious because I won't deny that a higher intelligence may exist.
I am skeptical of anyone claiming knowledge of the moment of creation. Religious or the insufferable Atheists.

Fair enough. I don't share the view that religion is the cause of the most suffering. Hitler, Stalin, Mao, etc., were all atheists and they either murdered or were responsible for a monolithic amount of suffering and death.
The biggest argument I have with Atheists here is that their belief system is a form of religion.

Hitler really didn't identify as an atheist.

Some Nazis believed Christianity as a whole was too "judaised" to leap the racial hurdle for a religion appropriate to the German "racial soul" and "Germanic morality." Yet Hitler did voice a great deal of support for an "Aryan" Christ, generally a figure who fitted completely with his own agenda: a violent anti-Semite named Jesus.

This can be seen in Hitler's favourite Bible passage, Jesus cleansing the Temple of the money changers (Mark 11, Matthew 21), which he saw as an early model for his own perceived battle against "materialistic" Jews. At one point he reduced the mission of Christ to this: "it is only the means that change over the course of time; what was earlier a whip is today a blackjack."

Such as poetry , literature , art , physics and math
Apes don’t have that 1 percent

Language is what most distinguishes humans from other animals.
I would disagree.
Many species use language, .....

Nope. Almost all living things communicate in some manner, but only humans use language.
That is frankly a human assumption.
We have no idea what animal's especially Whales are communicating.
Humans communicated with language far before the written word and language goes far deeper than just vocalizations including emotional and physical expressions.

Thanks. You might like this article. Hitler ultimately rejected all organized religions, including Christianity, and became an atheist, as the quote below confirms.

Excerpt: (Hitler) The dogma of Christianity gets worn away before the advances of science ... Gradually the myths crumble. All that is left to prove that nature there is no frontier between the organic and inorganic. When understanding of the universe has become widespread, when the majority of men know that the stars are not sources of light, but worlds, perhaps inhabited worlds like ours, then the Christian doctrine will be convicted of absurdity.

What makes humans different from all the rest

I have determined that it is self-reflection.

I believe our ability to contemplate a “make believe” moment was first put on display by way of the “Theatre”, way back in 5th century BC

The 5th century BC started the first day of 500 BC and ended the last day of 401 BC.. or 2,521 years ago.
5th century BC - Wikipedia

That is a very long time ago
Anyway, humans are capable of being in that moment in time and space as though they were there, playing a part.

The first plays were performed in the Theatre of Dionysus, built in the shadow of the Acropolis in Athens at the beginning of the 5th century, but theatres proved to be so popular they soon spread all over Greece. Drama was classified according to three different types or genres: comedy, tragedy and satyr plays.

The theatre

A play is a work of drama, usually consisting mostly of dialogue between characters and intended for theatrical performance rather than just reading. The writer of a play is a playwright.
Play (theatre) - Wikipedia

Humans eventually were able hear the voices of theatre, nonfiction play by way of the radio.

Anyway, the point is this created an avenue where people can become the person in the play as if you were that person. You can then revisit that play focusing on another aspect of it.

In most cases, morality is woven into the script.

There are the good guys and the bad guys; and in the end the good always wins.

Tv sequels exemplifies as good set of moral values for the observer to experience. And it is all make believe

Make believe, also known as pretend play, is a loosely structured form of play that generally includes role-play

the individual must be intentionally diverting from reality.
The individual must be aware of the contrast between the real situation and the make believe situation.

This healthy ability is what separates us from all the rest.

I watch NCIS, Seinfeld, Gunsmoke, HBO movies of all sorts, MSNBC news, Fox, its all part of the human experience that is unique to the human race; setting us apart from all the rest.

Continuing along this same thread, since theatre originated in Europe;

Do Europeans have sitcoms & comedy to watch on TV today as we do, ?
My husbands cat has a make believe friend that he periodically plays with.........................
Think animals are just as complex and often more intelligent than many human animals.

Common since is a genetic trait found in our DNA

Couldn’t a supercomputer compute this in real time-?

As a bystander there is nothing your husband is doing that is wrong,
If he starts hacking the cat with an axe, I would suggest calling 9-11

Just a friendly suggestion

Your HUSBAND'S cat? Why isnt he your cat too? Even a cat deserves two parents

I just got through watching the movie “Drums Across The River”, staring Audie Murphy.

What I got out of watching the movie is a since of morality. It is a play of fiction in which you need to “pretend” you are among one of the characters.

You can watch the play as if you were there.
USA TV series of fiction have one thing in common

It is a “moral” display of fiction in which you can pretend to be any character on the stage. I have watched several moral driven plays like NCIS,

I sure enjoyed watching the episode again.

Showing that the world is unfolding as it should

All have one thing in common.,..
they all displayed moral values that my mother and father wanted my brothers, sister and I to watch as a child.

This basic degree of moral values that I watched over and over was the bases of my moral values when i grew up.
watching helped me grow up to be a man among many.

What makes humans different from all the rest

The rest of what?
If it is the rest of the animals, it is the conundrum of dealing with te reality that a person is the most important thing in the universe and, at the same time, totally unimportant.
