I thought about trying to be a technical writer here in my retirement.

Now with AI, I bet a lot of companies think they can eliminate the position.

No doubt AI will **** it all up though.

I don't think AI can validate or verify procedures, which is what I had to do as a Tech Writer for a couple of defense contractors.

I sure did. (11 yrs old)

But mine was a short run, so I didn't list it.

I sold them for a couple years in NM. At the height in the early 60s, I was delivering 60 every week. Three dollars a week was quite a haul then.

In the last years of my engineering career I ended spending almost half of my time writing detailed procedures for integrating, testing and prototyping. I didn't like it but the young engineers appreciated it so much it actually became enjoyable. Sometimes they would be motivated enough to work with me in the lab and try and learn what I do. That was the best.

while being chewed out for something else the captain I worked for appreciated my taking care of the troops and the work I got out of troops they thought were rejects. Made it worthwhile and less of a sting.

I hope not. My nephew is a technical writer out in CA. He makes really good money at it.
