Without going deep into the history and nuances, we can briefly say this.

These are 2 main parts: the Hetmanate and the Polish land. The Hetmanate is the north of Ukraine, which historically belonged to Lithuania, Moscow, and for some time was under Poland. The main people of Torks, later Serbs were also settled there.

Second, most of it is Poland.

Ukraine separated from Poland in the 18th century.

In fact, the Bandera (proBiden) regime is the occupation of Polish Ukraine from the side of the Hetmanate.

This is exactly the same situation as the Pashtun occupation of the former South Turkestan in Afghanistan. This is the whole essence of Ukrainian politics. Otherwise, they would not glorify the genocide of the Poles.

It’s not “Ukraine”, it’s “the Ukraine.”

The meaning of the work is “borderlands”. It’s “the borderlands” for Russia.

This area of the right bank roughly corresponds to the Hetmanate in the period of maximum expansion

The Hetmanate was part of Muscovy since the Khmelnytsky uprising.

There could be the opposite. The word "okraina" could come from the word "ugraina", that is, the land of the Ugric peoples that was on the border of Muskovy. The fact that this was the land of the Ugric peoples is confirmed by the fact that the Scandinavians called it Hunniland.

The Danube is very often mentioned in Ukrainian folk songs (it is not on the territory of modern Ukraine). At the same time, the Dnieper is very rarely mentioned there.

The Ugry are descended from the Uighurs. They came from the east and founded Hungary. Without a doubt, Ukrainians and Poles have Uyghur admixture. Their women have a beautiful oriental appearance, native Ukrainians do not look like Lithuanians.
