Compared to those, even the US is "small". It actually comes in as #7 internationally as far as number of people in uniform. Believe it or not, North Korea has a military almost 4 times the size of the US. Vietnam is over twice as large as the US. Even India is over twice the size of military personnel than the US.

However, as small as it it they do have some cutting edge equipment. And a lot of allies to call in through NATO.

The UK comes in at just 6 places above Germany, and France is about in the middle between the US and UK. Internationally, Russia is #5, China is $6.
