What is the most likely reason for the disproportionate number of blacks in pro sports?

Why are there more blacks in pro sports?

Blacks, on average, have more fast twitch muscle fibers and greater amounts of testosterone than whites.

I don't know but I wouldn't say it had anything to do with affirmative action. Why? Because if they weren't any good they wouldn't be playing.

Shades of Jimmy "the Greek" Snyder--the statement that got him permanently excommunicated from the world of sports, and had every broadcaster and network racing to disavow any connection with him.

This was hilariously parodied by SNL's Hans and Frans "Reply to Jimmy the Greek"

Interestingly, the NBC news segment from the same era about physical performance differences between black and white athletes did not result in the public backlash and banishment experienced by Jimmy the Greek, largely because it was presented as an analytical report based on testing, in contrast to the video that got Jimmy the Greek in hot water, which looked like a modern-era cell phone video in which someone is caught off guard and says something they wished they could take back, based on a purely anecdotal opinion that is ripe for attack by the media.

NBC News Black Athletes

A couple decades later, the stigma of Jimmy the Greek's statement and consequent public decimation is still so prevalent that most non-black sports broadcasters would consider it career suicide to even discuss this topic, much less echo Jimmy the Greek's reasoning--especially considering the escalated race-tensions in pro sports over the past few years. Because of this, comments by black athletes that endorse this reasoning are avoided like the plague by mainstream sports journalists. A somewhat humorous microcosm of this can be seen in this TMZ session, where they're discussing Olympic Gold Medalist sprinter Michael Johnson's comment that his athletic ability is attributable to slavery:

Michael Johnson's comment was indeed hotly debated on the merits--among black people who stated their positions via YouTube--the mainstream sports media outlets avoided even the appearance of having an opinion on the merits, and merely reported that the comment was made and that it is a controversial issue.

Here's the debate by the posters on YouTube

There are many legit black athletes. However, most elite athletes are whitey. The brain is an important part in playing a sport!

They work / train harder and bring more intelligence to bear. That's how you get ahead in pro sports.

I remember the scandal involving Jimmy the Greek. The sad part is, he was correct.

Hundreds of years of selective breeding among slaves did have an effect on their descendents.

I was told bringing up racial differences is racist.
Todays version of racism is awfully confusing

"Because they're fast" Like Marsupials . Thanks too Christopher Walken for this one. Ethiopian runners win like every marathon ever . Why? Because Lions are pretty fast too! You Don't need to out run the lion just the rest of the people with you.

Neither.

For well over 100 years sports was one of the few professions African Americans were allowed to participate in.

You should read a history book, blacks weren't welcome in professional sports in this country until around the same time they were welcome in other professions.
