With rising cost of houses and insurance to own houses, along with a diminished supply of houses, more and more people will be forced into apartments and condos.

But what to do with the houses already in place? You now see more and more Left-wing corporations, like Black Rock who pushes DEI 24/7, that are buying up houses in the US to rent to people. Thus, fewer and fewer people will actually own homes as eventually only the "rich" will be able to do so, and eventually none will own a house.

But with rising taxes on properties in addition to this mess, isn't that already the case? Do you really "own" something you keep having to pay for to use?

It is the Marxist ideal of owning nothing. But it is like this in Europe as most have been forced into apartments and row houses that are all packed up like a group of sardines.

There's plenty of houses available in NOtVA now that Trump leaned-out the .gov some. ;)
It's not just housing, it is everything. After all, Marxism is about owning nothing.

Cars are not far behind. I mean, who can afford them either in addition to the crazy higher insurance rates?

Again, I think the goal is like Europe. Just have all the workers jammed into a city that live on top of each other on the "plantation" as they take government transportation to work and back.

This is defintely the goal. Democrats are already centralized in large ant hills and they apparently love it. They believe they have a great life because they have a Starbucks within a 5 minute walk. Never mind that they pay too much of their salary to rent a shoe box and never own anything. I guess if you don’t know anything different, then it seems ok.

Lots of affordable fixer uppers in smaller cities and towns across America. And, saving up for the down payment is as easy as forgetting the cable services and smartphone contracts for a few years. You could drive that older vehicle for a few more years as well.

It is 2008 again? ~S~
It hasn't stopped being 2008, Obama took your money and gave it to the richest investment firms in America so they didn't lose money while millions of Americans lost everything so they could stay rich.
These same firms paid record bonuses and made record profits in 2009 while we suffered.
but remember - Obama "saved us." -- just ask a sheep Democrat

What the libs want to do is destroy the Middle Class by making their habitat totally out of reach for Americans.

Getting people jammed into failing cities, relying on shitty city schools, city buses if what they see as idyllic, queueing up in inner city medicaid clinics, etc.

The idea of a middle class living in a 3000 square foot home on a quater acre with a couple of SUV's in the driveway is anathema to them.

Then there's the question, are we suffering from a lack of affordable housing, or overpopulation?

As New York Times said - "You will own nothing, and be happier"
Socialism 101 - let's try it again for the 50th time!!

There's some truth to that. Why buy a cow when you can milk one. However, someone has to own the cow. Many prefer to rent rather than own for various reasons. I have two nephews who are in their fifties, one has never owned a vehicle, the other only occasionally and they do just fine. Neither owns a home either.

Let in 15 million new illegal aliens under Biden, housing demand increases.

It is insane long term to rent. Insane.
Owning a home is like a savings account that you pay into, and get all of it back decades later with profit. It is like living for free with a bonus at the end.
Rent - every dime you pay - you never see again.
We purchased a home in 1997 for $125,000
We sold it in 2015 for $290,000 - diff of $155,000
House payments equaled $146,880
We spent about $20,000 on a kitchen remodel
So our total outlay was about $167,000
Minus the $155,000 equity - it cost us $12,000 to live there for 18 years. $667 a year.

Homestead laws. Prevent large corps from buying single family homes.

Keep zoning laws in place that limit some areas to single family homes.

Did you figure in property taxes, insurance, and maintenance costs?

Supply and demand curve.

Government needs to STAY THE FUCK AWAY.

That is how you solve issues in the private sector.

I can tell you what the plan is. In fact they’ve already announced it and are implementing it in parts of Europe… The 15 Minute City.

It’s an urban planning movement where everything you need… house, job, grocery, etc… is within a 15 minute walking radius. No cars. Small apartments without extra space. Green spaces. Everything in your nice little community… I mean CELL.

That sounds awesome actually.

Uh? Typical homes are like $350K? Takes a lot of time to save $75K (20% down) at $10 coffee once a day.
