What is Labor Day to You?

My oldest child and my youngest child were both born on Labor Day. Ask my wife what Labor Day means.
How many years apart are they and what are their actual birthdays since Labor Day falls on different days in early September from year to year.

God bless you and your family always!!!

P.S. Sadly, my favorite aunt passed away on Labor Day 2022. :( :( :(

14 years apart, September 6.

Is it just a generic holiday?

Do you "celebrate" organized labor and what it has (arguably) done to benefit all workers in the U.S.?

Do you shun the holiday as celebrating an institution that has proven to be equally good and bad?

Do you think of it as celebrating all working Americans, or just unionized workers (and retirees)?
The day the rich get off, and the day the poor get to work.....

I’ve never heard anyone say Labor Day was just for union workers. It’s for anyone who has worked in this country.

Just another day, like all the others.

I thought it was the day when all pregnant ladies started to give birth.

I don’t place much stock in Labor Day. It is just a made up excuse to pacify unions and union members. And, despite being a conservative Republican, I like the old basis for the legal existence of Unions.

Some companies and some bosses were (and even with unions, some companies and bosses still are) abusive to their employees. A union is a collective tool of and for workers to protect the members from employer’ overreaching.

That said, Unions by and large seem to have forgotten their original purposes for existing. They can negotiate with a company for higher wages for the employees, but in the process they have been know to kill the golden goose.

Before I retired, I enjoyed the holiday just fine. Now that I am retired, it holds little meaning anymore.

Just a work day for me, but without the traffic.

It's actually quite nice.

In fact, y'all take another day...
