We are talking about a LOT of troops on the ground will be necessary to achieve the goals.

This isn't going to go like Iraq with a few isolated tough holdouts....

This one is gonna get gritty and dirty quickly

Where the US will almost immediately achieve "air superiority" the low level air superiority will still be questionable at best. Iran has thousands of manpads, AA guns, drones, helicopters, and various missile capabilities.
Not to mention the mountainous terrain in the North where sussing out enemies will not be easy.

Then there are groups that will add to the troubles....Houthis, Hezbollah, ISIL, ISIS, and various other groups in the area.

This isn't going to be simple and easy....we WILL need local groups to assist in overthrowing the current regime. (Which ARE more than willing to help....everyone knows someone killed by the government in the past couple of months)

Yes, the USA is going to lose soldiers and boats and jets. Some due to friendly fire and others due to direct combat.

The tanks have been and still are being delivered in theater. F-22 &F-35s are already there and Vance is supposed to go to an undisclosed location (Wyoming) at some point today.

THAAD systems are online and working....patriot batteries, Iron Dome, and Pheonix systems all online.

A paper airplane isn't going to get a chance of unrestricted flight at the moment and IRGC drones have already been shot down.
