Its just a dumb idea. Governements like that play with someone elses money and have no fear of failure... because they can always take more money from the people.
In private enterprise, you better damn well succeed or you wont be in business any more... this promotes exellence and inovation. Social governments are happy to just chug along at a sub par level at best. Dont point to the Scandinavians. They are not really socialist and they were also homogenous societies with a high level of accountability. Their rececipe for whatever success they had no longer exists in the world.

All states are funded through taxation, and the US Constitution has a provision for the general welfare of the population. "Welfare state" is just another word which means whatever you want it to. It's just a "dirty word".
