We are alone

If you exist on a planet without a chance of contacting other life forms, you are alone

If you are lost in the woods with nobody around you for hundreds of miles, you are alone

In over 4 billion years of evolution, we have finally gotten to the point where our first probes launched almost half a century ago are finally reaching the very edges of our own solar system. And our next probe to reach that will do so also (launched in 2006), in another decade.

Most people can barely grasp how big the Universe is.
