What if Trump -is- a fascist?

Ummmm

Kinda LATE at that point

Ya think?
No, our system of checks and balances would take care of that. I say, since he didn't do any of it before, put him back in. It's all a narrative anyway, like he's going to let Putin invade Ukraine and whatnot.

There are three branches of the U.S. government. The Executive is under the control of Congress. This is not the Weimar Republic. Congress is responsible for the wars. Congress is responsible for the debt. Congress is responsible for any immigrant problems. Congress is elected by direct vote. Voters continue to return corrupt Congress members. Voters are responsible for Congress.
What if all three branches were under the control of one party. The party would seek to maintain control for as long as possible. Rules that they make would favor them and help maintain that power.

if Trump can maintain that elections are fraudulent and people believe it then the path is clear.

This is exactly the problem with the two-party dyad, the "duopoly". It has effected a form of coup d'Ă©tat gradually over the decades and seized power over the government. Americans have accepted this Manichean duality as not only normal, but necessary. It is a sorry state. We are under the implicit domination of one party that only appears to present two wings.

I don't really think of them as one party, but each has a vested interest in limiting their competition. Like the Bloods and the Crips have a mutual interest in keeping the biker gangs out of their turf.

One big problem is the simplistic way we run elections - plurality voting. It actually encourages artificial division and discourages consensus government. Candidates who seek to represent the entire country, rather than appease the party faithful, are weeded out in the primaries.

Combine that with a media that feasts on fear and anger and we have the mess we're now living through. And it will continue to get worse until we finally reject it. Or the country fails, whichever comes first.

I look at Trump as a de facto fascist, as compared to an ideological fascist.

He's not ideological. He can't paint a picture of a larger overall political theme. Look at his history -- his entire being is wrapped up in being respected and validated, and this path just happened to be the one that opened up to him. He's a damaged child still desperatly looking for Daddy's acceptance.

Unfortunately, he not only pursues his needs with an authoritarian approach, but he has also attracted people to him who ARE ideological. So the actions and plans describe fascism essentially by default. It's those who enable him, who say nice things to him and pet him regularly, who are advancing it.

Fascist is a proper name and must be capitalized. Most of the posters here have no idea what it is, but at least they should spell it correctly: Fascist.

In my time reading threads on this forum, deciphering what would be reality to propaganda is a game. Those who promote Trump as Hitler or a dictator know what he is and is not. Spending all of this time at least hoping that a candidate whose agendas promotes America First and many voters do not want that. The decline is happening. Even Trump's agendas do not guarantee anything except hope. Except hope and change.

Let’s not forget that he is also running to stay out of jail. He’s been convicted and sentencing has been delayed by his running for office. If he wins he will have the convictions over turned or vacated or pardon himself.

If he loses the sentencing will happen. It will of course end up being house arrest but he does NOT want to end his days a prisoner in Mar A Lago

That's about how I see him as well. Trump isn't Hitler. But he attracts people who get off on Hitler. People who like the idea of a "strong man", kicking and ass and taking names.

Show us where He has been convicted.

You can stop this nonsense at any time. You aren't worth my time to list the 34 counts where he was convicted. tRump has to win to prevent him from going to prison or at least house arrest for at least 18 months. HE's already been convicted and awaiting sentencing after the election. If he wins, those conviction will still be in affect but would have to wait until the end of his last term in office. But they won't go away. And that is the least of his worries. If he loses, he's got charges backed up to no end and could easily put him in prison for the rest of his natural life.

So no more of this "Ignorant" crap. It's only ignorant if you haven't been presented the facts. Instead of ignorance, it's downright stupid.
