I'm not a backer of Trump and so the way it appears to me, is that Obama had far more of a focus on the expansion of privilege. One which I wasn't keen about.

I see the expansion where Obama put his focus was based on sexual orientation rather than race.
 
White is a race, and Republicans are the ones who have played the race card in recent times. Whites have played the race card since 1619. In fact, whites invented the race card.
