Yes.
In a manner of speaking.
Indeed they have .... and do. But let's not get so close to the flame and burn ourselves. Let's take two steps back.
As you say, the colonialists divided and controlled their conquered territories ... BUT ... they also concocted the definitions of everything around them.
DEMOCRACY. What is
Democracy? What examples of
Democracy do we have before us? The West, we are told, have the definition under lock and key. They know what
Democracy is. No one else does. Where does that leave the world? Yes, that means that whatever the West does it is within the realm of
DEMOCRACY but when someone else acts it is called something other then
Democracy. Should we buy that? Should we accept that? The US and UK destroyed
Iran's Democracy and put the Shah in power. Then there was the up-coming
Democratic national elections in Vietnam that the US sabotaged. The
Democratic United Nations that forbade the West to invade Irak but the West did anyway. The same with the bombing of Serbia, Libya, Syria, the overthrow of the
Democratically elected leader of Ukraine, Israeli's genocide of Palestinians .... and now the kidnapping of the leader of Venezuela. The West tells us it's all in the name of
DEMOCRACY. After all, it's the West that has given us the definition of
Democracy and they are giving the world plenty of examples of it. Now, if I were an Arab I'd take a good look at this thing called
"Democracy" and I wouldn't want anything to do with it. Rockets seem to be more efficient
