What drives anti-government extremists?

Here's one explanation from a bunch of anti-government (actually anti-oppressive-government) extremists.

Declaration of Independence - Text Transcript

Enjoy.
That's anti-monarchy little moron.

What I said was correct. And I didn't need to call names to get my point across.

But I don't blame you for getting upset at the fact that most people who oppose government, merely oppose oppressive governments.
You would be correct, if we had a King like they did. And the anti-government nutters here hate a lot more than just what might oppress them.

Hatred of the government?

No. It's a hatred for America because it's not a reflection of the way they want it to be and think it should be. One of the things that is at the core of the problem is that they can't abide it when someone other than the people they voted for win elections. All bets are off then. That's when you here talk of secession, revolution, impeachment and the like. It's worse with Obama for obvious reason that didn't apply when Clinton was president.

You're mixing a lot of unrelated groups together

I don't mean to suggest it's some kind of homogeneous whole. It's not. But there is plenty of overlap in beliefs between groups that might seem very different on the surface.

It's really pretty simple, read the Constitution and the limited powers granted the federal government, then compare to the government we have. Any child could see the difference.

If its so simple, give me a couple examples.

Govt breaking every treaty with native americans?

Yes, the government did some evil shit to Native Americans. However, without the "government" Native Americans who have been annihilated and there never would have been "any" treaties - including those that currently exist and reservations. Native Americans would have been exterminated. At least some have survived.

Wow, what a weird view. So in essence youre giving govt its blessing even though it was hell bent on wiping out the natives. There wouldnt have been any treaties? What good were they anyway when the govt was busy blasting natives away ignoring their own treaties?

I'll answer for you. I'll give you three examples I can imagine you would use.

1. You think white business owners in the south should be able to pay slave wages and discriminate against whoever they want to discriminate against.
2. You think government should not interfere while the healthcare giants take every cent the middle class has. Government keep your hands off my medicare.
3. You think the government should not regulate Wallstreet or the housing market so the bankers and mortgage companies can **** us again.

Unfortunately we have 50 states and a bunch of dumb state legislatures who have sold their souls to the corporate lobbyists. They don't care about voters anymore.

Living in America is like living in a condo. We have a board. That board may decide to raise our taxes or do some renovating. You don't like it, vote in a new board. But the board has to be looking out for all the residence. Right now the board is only looking out for itself and the 2 richest tenants. The rest of us can go to hell.

"What drives anti-government extremists?"

First of all I'm not "anti government" I'm concerned that the federal government is trying to take control of all aspects of our lives. Government is much easier to control when it is in reach. A huge centralized government is too hard to keep in check. So what you get is a bunch of our fellow government employed citizens working for their bonuses rather than working to do their jobs; and they can't be fired.
It's one thing when the pot hole fillers drop the ball but it's another thing when Obama care or VA workers drop the ball. Their mistakes and laziness are for keeps. Serious shit. Look at the IRS scandal. What you have is a federal government agency trying to squash a movement by it's own citizens because they want to keep their mega sized government in tact and growing. You all should be worried about that but some of you just laugh it off. I think that will come back and bite us all not just the Tea Party.
I also believe that we all get just one crack at life in this world and I find it reprehensible that out of want for power we have greedy politicians doing their dirty work to hook as many people as they can on their drug (the drug of dependency) It gives them power and steels the free will and the desire to achieve away from people. To me there is no greater sin.

That was then. This is now.

You're trying to reason with him.

Ask the live ones. Bill Ayers is still rattling around in Chicago and his anti-government anti-American former domestic terrorist wife is a law professor.

 I was trying to educate him on my viewpoint. Not gonna work ehh?

We're approaching one. An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of revolution.

And the anti-government nutters here hate a lot more than just what might oppress them.
Name one.

The EPA, the FDA, the IRS, the INS, the DOE, the DEA, the TSA, the D of Ed., The White House currently, the SC often enough, the BLM, and on and on and on, not to mention the VA, SSI, Medicare, Medicaid, SNAP, and UI.

It's not "reason". It's not even right.

It's an agenda that uses fantasy to backup a nutty narrative.

And no one is making anyone live in this country.

There are plenty of places in the world with "less" government.

And they are generally miserable for it.

If anyone wants out..they can make a beeline for a "freer" nation.

Their own failures. They have to blame something or someone, might as well be government.

It's really pretty simple, read the Constitution and the limited powers granted the federal government, then compare to the government we have. Any child could see the difference.

If its so simple, give me a couple examples.

Article 1 section 8 clause 8, authorizes congress only to promote the sciences and useful arts by providing patients and copyrights. (paraphrased) They are funding useless bullshit.

Article 1 section 8 clause 17, authorizes congress legislative authority over federally owned land. (paraphrased) Meaning the bureaucrats in the EPA and other alphabet agencies have no authority over state of privately owned lands.

I could come up with more but why bother.
