What does the Constitution mean to you?

I dunno. There are 1.31 million active-duty military that have sworn to uphold the Constitution but have few or no Constitutional rights.

I was thrown in jail once with no evidence against me. Where were my Constitutional rights of innocence until proven guilty?

how long were you in jail?

Caught at a beer party where there were minors present. Was accused of providing the beer.

And they found out you didn't, and set you free?

And how did they get the idea it was you who provided the beer?

That charge against me was dropped but the judge slapped me with a disorderly conduct charge, which was also false.

My ex-girlfriend, who organized the party, set me up. Long story.

The make it up as you go along theory of ignoring the written word.
Nope.

In the case of the 14th Amendment and the upcoming modern-day revisiting of same...

It's more like a matter of penetrating to the Original Intent in order to stem the flow of foreigners trying to exploit it...

Exploiting it in ways that the Original Crafters never intended it to be used...

Lysander Spooner was absolutely correct.
As an Abolitionist and legal theorist he was well aware of the advantage of revisiting and reinterpreting as conditions warrant...

The US Constitution is not a (Cultural) Suicide Pact and will not be allowed to be exploited as one...

Enjoy !!! :itsok:

Well, if they arrested you purely on her accusation and no other witnesses, yeah, that would be messed up, I'll agree with that.

We're there minors at the party? Had they been drinking?

Yep, and they brought their own beer. I didn't know any of them and none except my ex knew me. The police didn't gather any evidence at the party site. All the minors were release to their parents. Me and a friend who went to the party with me were jailed for the weekend. The police who questioned me didn't believe a word I said. I'm still waiting for an apology.

Worse yet, years later I learned that the original false charge was still on my police record. I'm still able to buy guns however so I guess it's not that serious.

Yes on several occasions the scotus has ruled against trump.

while I dont agree with public officials receiving gifts as provided by most ethics policies, the scotus decision you refer to was about state and local officials.

As far as Harlan crow, I agree the optics are bad, but as far as im aware, the only rule (a rule, not a law) he broke was not reporting it, and i would fully expect thomas to refuse himself if any cases involving Mr crow were to come before the scotus.
Don't cry that the government is corrupt when you allow corrupt justices to stay seated.

Don't cry that the system is rigged. It's clearly rigged now.

Imagine if Kamala was ******* with corporations the way Trump is. Threatening companies. On and off tariffs.

God I hope Republicans pay in next year's midterms.

"Interpretation" is the reason the cotus doesnt mean anything anymore. Again, if I can interpret it any way I want, what's the point of it? Interpretation is why we have such bickering about it because each side wants to interpret it to fit their agenda. The framers already interpreted it for us and put the words on paper, why the need to interpret it any further?

the difference is, I don't want any special exceptions for repubs. I want the cotus to apply equally to left and right both.

Here's how fucked up the current Supreme Court is. It's been happening for YEARS. Heritage Foundation shit. In short, basically, they want to one day make abortion Murder. But currently, it's not. So they have these lower cases that happen on purpose so they can make rulings which lay the groundwork or justification to one day use that decision in their justification to say yes abortion is murder and this past case's ruling gives me my reason to rule that way. I'm not explaining it right.

I'm not explaining it right but bottom line is this is how something like abortion can go from being legal to MURDER.

Here's another great example. Remember Republicans said they are okay with abortion as long as it's within the 1st month? And they were okay with the morning after pill. Of course they were lying but they just made abortion illegal in a shit load of states so they would fight the morning after pill another day

The Supreme Court Could Gut Access to Birth Control This Year

With Donald Trump back in the White House, access to contraception is, sadly, not something that people can bank on anymore — whether they know it or not. This issue didn’t get much airtime during the chaotic 2024 campaign, but birth control has been in conservatives’ crosshairs for years. And while Trump’s administration will undoubtedly attack it, he’ll likely have additional help from his appointees to the Supreme Court.

On Jan. 10, the justices agreed to hear a case, Braidwood v. Becerra, that threatens the Affordable Care Act’s insurance coverage of preventive care. A group of conservative Texas employers who object to paying for birth control and pre-exposure prophylaxis for HIV argue that the Affordable Care Act can’t require preventive services be covered without costs like copays because the panels that determine coverage are unconstitutional. Their lawyer is Jonathan Mitchell, the same right-wing attorney and former Justice Antonin Scalia clerk who wrote the Texas bounty-hunter abortion ban, S.B. 8.

Ok, and im sure there are other lawfirms working against them.

Im sure the left has some pretty damn good lawyers who will fight it.

Im sorry but Dobbs was right. Abortion was never a federal issue. It was always a state issue. The states need to fight for it if they want it.

I doubt that happens

With Donald Trump back in the White House, access to contraception is, sadly, not something that people can bank on anymore — whether they know it or not.

Why not? Most health clinics offer birth control pills and you can walk into any drug store in the country and buy boxes and boxes of condoms. Birth control is widely available.

Those appointees dont have a great track record for being in trump pocket, as we've seen.

Well, why should I have to pay for someone else to have safe sex? You wanna "get busy" drive down to Walgreens and buy some condoms, or go to the health department and get in thr pill, but my tax dollars should not be paying for someone's contraceptives.

It's a states issue until one day it gets sent to the Supreme Court where they will call it murder. One day. Not sure why they don't do it now.

Republicans are trying to take away access to birth control. Or the morning after pill. It murders the fetus after life has started.

.I understand, but I dont think Scotus will rule that way. I think Dobbs was their goal and I think it will stop there. Abortion is not a federal issue, this includes trying to ban birth control etc. That is simply not a federal issue.

I doubt there will ever be a nationwide ban on abortion, nor on birth control, those are state issues.

You're not thinking you're hoping. And after we basically pretty much bent over and took the overturning of Roe v Wade, you can bet more is to come.

For god sakes trump bragged that he overturned roe. It was VERY unpopular. And like 1 or 2 years later, ditsy broads voted for Trump not Kamala? Oh it's coming my friend.

In a Christian nation, it's ******* murder. And to prove they aren't happy they are trying to take away birth control. They HATE the morning after pill. They don't want it available to women. I say they should ban abortion. Women are second class citizens and don't seem to mind. It would make us a more moral society right?

If scotus was intent on banning abortion, they would have taken that step instead of issuing dobbs..
