I am too broken down but looks like a cool hobby

Cool to learn basic throws and trips for self defense.

Problem it is very damaging on body.

So cool

This is the shit that I grew up watching. I never realized how much better the commercials were before 'Woke" lol

Chuck Norris knew judo. Sounds to me like you'd be better advised to study something more involving joint locks and pressure points like maybe shodokan aikido, gin lek (if you can find a trainer), or dian xue, which involves striking the vital energy points of the body to disrupt chi. All of them are more science than physical.

BJJ is joint and chokes but only ground.

I did study it for awhile

Then there is another favorite of mine, called Kabudo. I'm particularly fond of kabudo-nunchaku, but it can be extended into a non-weapon, legally-carried aid like a simple staff or a cane.

You can do amazing things with a simple walking cane turning it into a very effective both defensive and offensive weapon.

Which of course leads one into learning how to use common objects around us in daily life as weapons.

Remember, the greater the attack, the less energy the defender needs to defend because of the more energy by your attacker is available to redirect against himself.

I still think boys wrestling is the best self defense of them all

I wished I wrestled but it might have been too much physically for me

I am an ex top judo trainer but not black belt --- regrettably in hindsight . Vanity I guess .

My father trained Commandos within the British army and insisted that as a woman I become a martial arts expert , given my likely needs as I progressed through the male dominated system .
It stood me in great stead many times when cocky and mouthy young males itched to break their teacher and later when involved more directly in offensive action.

IMO - (did it for more then 40 years) the best active physical sport (besides rowing) to sweat away ones fat, stay fit and mentally alert - totally sucks in regards to a viable self-defense. And if not fit and "flexible" - the absolute wrong physical activity to pick up.

You might however give Tai Chi a try.

Long ago my sisters did. Id come home from football practice already beat up and they would practice on me. Kick me in the stomach.

Didnt really hurt id been hit so many times football didnt matter. But once got too close to where it would make me sing suprano so i caught a foot and pushed.

Well she went into refrig, then fell on buttbone, then i got my ass beat by my dad.

Those were the days

Basic submission grappling is good if not judo.

I'm too physically large for judo, although I am a blue belt in Karate (no desire to advance further, I know how to hurt people and that's all I care about)

See?! Girls CAN beat up guys. All they need to do is prank you into doing something so they can call dad first to come kick your ass.

Several judoka black belts were really embarrassed when I put them down during sparring.
