Why would the Romans write a story that casts them in such a poor light. That's not what Imperial historians do. The Romans were tasked by God to protect his word intact until He would deliver it to its intended audience, in their language. See "Coverdale Bible".

The Law of Moses was necessary for Israel until they were mature enough spiritually.

As it is written the Law of Moses will remain in effect and in full force, essential to living a blessed life in the sanctuary of Gods love, sane, for as long as there are people on earth.

If you think the kingdom of God is yet to come or that the Law has become obsolete you have been mislead. Jesus taught a new more meaningful way to understand and comply with the Laws demands that actually reflects the wisdom of a benevolent God, the same way that Moses originally taught to follow the Law which was set aside, lost to time, and replaced with what Jesus called "the traditions of men", what is now known as the Talmud. So the only thing about the Law that became obsolete was the wrong way to follow it, not the Law itself. Even Nebuchadnezzar saw this after "dying" losing his mind and living like a dumb beast for seven years without enough sense to either look up or get out of the rain.
