The news of Russians hacking into the election really didn't break until AFTER the election was long over. Hillary Clinton mentioned it during one of the debates but no one paid any attention to that. She called Trump --Putin's puppet if I remember correctly. While Trump said it was some 400 lb. fat guy sitting on his bed doing it.
Trump continually denied it. He denied the CIA, the FBI, the Department of Homeland Security and 13 other intelligence agencies. At one point even saying "he knows people that know more than they do, and he'll get back with us next week about it." Of course he never did.
Regardless if it changed one single vote, collusion with a Foreign Adversary to interfere into an American National election is TREASON. There is no getting around that.

They will obtain his income tax returns via the Ways & Means committee, something Republicans refused to do a couple of weeks ago.

So Republicans have two choices. They can DUMP Trump now, by being the point of the spear, or go down with him in 2018--2020 and beyond. And they won't have any issues using the Ways and Means Committee to obtain his income tax returns. It's as concrete as it ever gets. You will never know the classified bits of the Benghazi story even after 8 investigations. The simple fact that Comey came out and confirmed an investigation while it's ongoing should tell you how significant it is.
