lol, kiss ass

In forever young, it isn’t the lyrics or her actual singing that is mesmerizing you. I can clearly see why you are affected by her. What you are seeing is a woman that expresses with her face and hands, There are no years of Botox to hide her expressions. She isn’t gorgeous, but her graceful hand gestures, eyes, and the way she brushes her hair are emotions in 3d. The way she coyly looks down and holds that look until she closes her eyes seals that moment of reflection that is driving you nuts.. right? The natural way she raises her eyebrows then looks up leaves you curious as to what she is remembering. Then you’ve got those green eyes sparkling and looking down constantly avoiding the camera, which to me, shows a certain shyness or her need for privacy in the midst of her vulnerability. She clearly affected the show’s guests.

It’s a nice song. I want to be forever young too. lol maybe I’ll start singing that in the shower and it will come true… master bullshitter here. lol …start a thread on it.

lol, kiss ass:biggrin: bite your tongue that she isnt gorgeous.:no_text11:I would STILL have fallen head over heals in love with her just by LOOKING at her if someone pointed her out to me and i did not hear her sing.

yeah you are soooo right, her looking down constantly avoiding the camera does indeed show a certain shyness about her indeed and yeah its cool to see i am not the ONLY one she affects that way,she indeed had the same effect on carson and the other guests on the show including burt reynolds. I am sure you noticed that comment of carsons from him-You really work when your up there dont you?

as i mentioned earlier, when i was growing up,everytime she finished a performance "like on solid gold where i remember seeing her perform many times" i liked to pretend each time she smiled it was JUST TO ME.I would say to my mom-she smiled at me,she gave me her smile:biggrin: there are other female performers i loved watching as well and enjoyed their smile also but they did not have THAT affect on me as she did to make me say THAT.

SHE should have been the female pop singer everyone in America knew and was in love with back then NOT Madonna.Back then I remember my sister saying after i talked about some female rock stars i loved watching and listening to her saying-Dont tell me,let me guess you like Madonna right?

she was glad of course when i said No that it was LAURA BRANIGAN I was head over heels in love with.I remember her saying-Oh okay, thank god its not her.lol

I been told this over the years so I am sure it is true that Madonna she sounded good on the RADIO but Laura Branigan sounded great LIVE in concert. Madonna? not so much.

The thing that was always loveable about her was she was always GENUINE. not some phony act most put on.

It was cool back then to learn that a COWORKER of mine even felt the same way i did about her.I remember i was talking to him one day asking him if there were any female rockstars that he would risk going to jail to by rushing onto the stadium to hug them and i could not believe my ears when he said -Well Laura Branigan i might. see? it WASNT just me,i was NOT alone,OTHERS felt the EXACT SAME WAY AS ME.:auiqs.jpg:

I agree with what i have seen OTHER people say in comments about her on youtube that she has GOT to be the most UNDER RATED pop star performer EVER.

someone else here has the same view you do on Gloria being their favorite song Elusive butterfly. found this comment at youtube.

Nobody could ever belt out "Gloria" like Ms Branigan did! Thanks for sharing your talent, Laura...RIP.

Ooh, I stepped on your toes. lol.

What I also noticed was the guests, when they stood up. They were a bit stiff postured and somewhat shocked as if they didn’t expect it. The outfit was good but many guests have dressed more revealing. I say it was her presentation. She did receive the Farrah faucet treatment. That was amusing.

I think it was the third video. She was so guarded the tension made me stop the video. I kinda think she had an esteem problem. She didn’t feel comfortable in her own skin. Perhaps it was those stupid foil looking outfits they dressed her in. Those were cruel wardrobe years. She deserved better. Did she die? I didn’t know that.

Madonna had appeal, but many of us females finally had lyrics to match thoughts.

I think Kylie Minogue was so beautiful. She is the only celebrity I will cry for if she dies. Her music is timeless and I shall never tire of it.

Im sure you picked up where carson said at the beginning -I REALLY ENJOY LISTENING TO YOU SING,YOU HAVE ALMOST A SADNESS IN YOUR VOICE?:)

yeah amazing how she was so nervous and shy doing doing one on one interviws she felt so uncomfortable but she could get out and relaz and perform in fron of thousands huh? Like she said, that was her safe place she would go to,

yeah I agree that outfit they made her wear in that second and third video was just terribe.

the good news is the outfit she has on in the next one video and the next after that looks MUCH better.Much more decent by leaps and bounds. you for sure will want to watch the fourth video after the one you watched where you get to hear them talk about her shyness in depth:)

The Lucky One she sings is MY favorite of hers followed closely by Tiamo that you just heard based on a true life experience she had of some asshole who broke her heart and dumped her.

here is it again and the next one after that.

oh and yeah i also did not know she died until a couple years ago, seems like the majority of the country did not.Thats what is so tragic about it is how they did not feel the need to talk about it,shit the entire WORLD knows elvis presley is dead and he died WAY before she did yet not ONE PEEP on Laura,,its not important to talk about like Elvis no sirree, lts just sweep it under the rug, that is so disgusting. I was wondering why she had not had any hits for so long, well now we know.SHE should have had the same fame Elvis did. there was nobody more deserving of it than her.

something i just noticed in that interview with carson she is sooo shy when she talks she looks down at the FLOOR half the time when talking.

you doe sure want to watch the ENTIRE video here in video # 4 and listen to both songs cause you in one of them you see the tears she has in her eyes when singing and then after the second song they really talk about her shyness in even more depth.. :)

Elvis? Never cared for him.

Go back to forever young. After her song she plays a bit, sitting up and down several times. She has humor. But what I begin to sense is she is horrified by her profuse sweating in front of these celebrities. She can barely respond. That wasn’t shyness. Carson picks up on her discomfort and goes to commercial. He was a first class gentleman.

She had such a cute figure , they should have allowed her to pick one that flattered it. I also dislike the choreography they assigned to her that was not natural to her. It seemed robotic. Basically, she had the mannerisms that worked on their own.

Ha! I told you about her vulnerability! That interview was difficult to watch. Everyone sees her sadness in life. She can’t hide it. Poor baby. My phone is too small to see her tearing up.

When I think of underrated, I think of Amy Holland, Michael McDonald’s girlfriend. She’s not on the level of Laura but I think she could’ve taken it to another level.

Then in Scarface

Oh, I love self control. And can she belt it.

the ONLY song That Elvis sang that I enjoy is Burning Love.Thats the one song of his that i think he actually doesnt sound so gay.. I never knew about that song until a couple years ago,I was listening to the radio and i said-I LIKE THIS SONG BUT YOU KNOW WHAT,IT SOUNDS A LOT LIKE ELVIS.i listen to it some more and then say-WOW IT IS ELVIS PRESLEY.WOW I CANT BELIEVE THATS HIM,HE DOESNT SOUND SO GAY IN THIS ONE LIKE HE NORMALLY DOES.

Yeah sense you just mentioned that about her sweating,Yeah Johnny was a gentlemen for noticing that and cutting to commerical.,i kinda noticed that just now as well.very few people knew about her dying.,In st louis, they were trying to contact her to get permission t0 play Gloria for some big event they were as shocked as much as i was obviously when they found out she was dead.:(

I notice your buddy Jantje_Smit has been lurking here. I could not get the duke to comment on it and i would like to hear a dude other than my roomate david talk about if she makes his heart melt when see smiles at the end of her songs in these videos as she does me.

I am assuming sense i have gotten likes from you
Jante, that you DO like Laura Branigan? If my hunch is right,if you dont mind,do me this favor and watch these three videos below and let me know if when she smiles at the end,her smile makes your heart melt as much as it does me.thanks,:)

jante IF her smile makes your heart melt as it does mine you will ESPECIALLY enjoy watching her after the second song in this first video when she sits down and starts talking.:) oh and does ALL her songs you listen to her give YOU goosebumps as much as it does me?:)

If it wasn't for Elvis none of these performers would even be famous. The guy made Rock n Roll great.
Did you know that Elvis’s “hound dog” was a cover song? There were other rockers before him. Just an fyi.

Yeah, I hear he made a mark, just not on me. lol

So who do you think was most influenced by him?

Most rock musicians credit Elvis for their success.

He posts fri thru sun. Work, you know. Let’s see if he replies or memes his way out of the branigan question. Lol His fair and balanced thread is the portal of possibilities.
