What are the Gop going to be about opioids

The drug companies who marketed "rich man's heroin" called OxyContin & ruined the lives of countless thousands of people are no better then Mexican drug cartels. They knew the shit was as addictive as heroin & lied about it for profit. They're some of the most evil bastards in the history of this Country.

Sanders is 100% correct.

Wrong.

Oxy was never rich mans heroin it was everyones heroin used by all social strata. It was never even known as RICHMANS HEROIN it was known as HILLBIILLY HEROIN

The people who abused oxys were addicts and in most cases addicted before they ever swallowed an oxy.

The pharma companies which created those drugs had more success in helping addiction than the government ever has,

This was actually predicted decades ago when many realized that the only success against addiction will come from private companies making better less harmful drugs.

Oxys are addictive there is no doubt and that addiction comes at a price but the cost is far less than other opioids. When people were feeding their addiction with oxys they could self regulate. Few overdosed and fewer addicts destroyed their lives. When government cracked down the real crises began because the addicts all started turning to heroin and fetynal.

Sanders is a fool and a liar. He is a socialist which proves that fact.

No they're not or hundreds of thousands wouldn't be dying every year.
Yes they are which ruins your circular argument. There is no evidence that education will solve the problem. We have been educating gthe populace about drugs for decades with little or no affect.

hate to burst your bubble but everyone knows about the affects of drugs but the addicts DO NOT GIVE A DAMN

What's difference what it was referred to? And you're wrong about claiming that people were addicted to drugs before they took oxy. It was the other way around. When the govt. cracked down on the distribution & prescribing of oxy many who were adcicted turned to heroin because they became addicted to opiods after being prescribed oxy.

Whether or not Sanders is a "socialist" as you described him to try & discredit his claim has nothing to do with the issue of drug addiction.

Your claim that drug companies had success with treatment of addicts is preposterous considering they were a major contributor to it.

Sanders is 100% correct.

Most physicians are conscientious about painkillers. The ones who aren't attract attention from pharmaceutical reps and the DEA.

No I am not wrong.

Opoid addiction and the damage it does is centuries old. People were ruining their lives in opium dens before the civil war. In the 1970s people were dying of heroin overdoses as they are today. People simply ignored the opioid problem when ceack and later crystal meth stole all the headlines.

The people who were PRESCRIBED oxy became addicted that is true. But the fact is they were beyond hope. The drug was used to treat the pain of people who were slowly dying of incurable health problems. There is no worry about getting addicted when you are dying anyways and have a chance to be comfortable while wasting away. It is the humanitarian thing to do to prescibe them opioids.

Theese same people however became the most dealers who sold their excess drugs to addicts. They could get 100 pills with their prescriptions, take half and sell the other half. The government could not allow this because they paid no taxes from selling pills and that is why they cracked down. THAT is what caused the crises.

I never said they had success with TREATMENT of addcist I said they offered a better solution than government and that is a fact.

I did discredit his claim without calling him a socialist. Calling him a socailist is just icing on the cake proving his stupidity and dishonesty

The only way this ends is if the populace becomes educated about drugs and how they destroy and kill. Otherwise, it will never stop.

Actually the only way to end this is if people can't get their hands on it, and that starts in Washington DC.

When you allow all these illegals to enter the country the drugs will follow.

Nothing.
In 2017, 67.8% of drug overdose deaths were from opioids.
  • 28,466 fentanyl-related
  • States with the highest overdose deaths are:
    • West Virginia leads the U.S with the highest rate of overdose deaths; 51.5 deaths per 100,000.
    • Delaware has 43.8 overdose deaths per 100,000.
    • Maryland has 37.2 overdose deaths per 100,000.
    • Pennsylvania has 36.1 overdose deaths per 100,000.
    • Ohio has 35.9 overdose deaths per 100,000.

Provisional data from CDC’s National Center for Health Statistics indicate that there were an estimated 100,306 drug overdose deaths in the United States during 12-month period ending in April 2021, an increase of 28.5% from the 78,056 deaths during the same period the year before.

The new data documents that estimated overdose deaths from opioids increased to 75,673 in the 12-month period ending in April 2021, up from 56,064 the year before. Overdose deaths from synthetic opioids (primarily fentanyl) and psychostimulants such as methamphetamine also increased in the 12-month period ending in April 2021. Cocaine deaths also increased, as did deaths from natural and semi-synthetic opioids (such as prescription pain medication).

In what way? Detail, precisely, how the drug companies, making a legal scheduled drug, are responsible for drugs on the street.

Provide an exact supply chain.

Why don't you use current data? Fentanyl is now the leading killer of Americans 18-49 yoa. 107 thousand deaths from fentanyl just last year and most of it is coming across the southern border. Of course people like you think that is an acceptable loss to flood the country with millions more impoverished people.

That's why drive-by Penelope used data when Trump was President.

They are...but the Sackler family/Perdue Pharma hired marketing people that convinced doctors that
A. Oxy was not addictive (that was a lie...it is more addictive than heroin)

B. No one should ever suffer pain any more.

You morons have the White House, Senate and House. Is there any point where you'll grow a pair and be a man?

um the dems are the ones in charge now…what have they done?

nothing

Not true. Democrats are clearing the path for drug dealers to have free access to the United States. We'd be so much better off if Democrats just did "nothing"
