Once in a while I come across the 6 ft black snake that lives on my property. It seems to know me and we each go about our business. Even old timey locals have a preposterous theory that black snakes mate with copperheads or rattlers and produce a poisonous black snake. That's their excuse to kill it. They are good climbers and keep the barn swallow population down as well as mice and pesky rodents. Spiders come and go in a rural areas. The animals I fear most are small mammals that act aggressive or in an uncharacteristic way. It usually indicates rabies. Exotic stuff is off the charts.
