ABikerSailor, ObligationLaunch, et al,
I like this aspect of the discussion. From a layman's POV, scientist have been very confusing about these issues:
• Gravity Waves
• Dark Matter
• Dark Energy
But, continue to be a member of the flat earth society if that's what floats your boat.
flat earth? Nice try? were did I wrote That? O that's right I didn;t!
What are the properties of space?
And just blindly following and parroting the pied piper?
Dark matter is what most of the universe is theorized to be made up of, and we can't see it.
I suppose that you think space is nothing more than a vacuum, much like the place between your ears.
(COMMENT)
In the case of "Gravity Wave" --- we are talking about a 35Hz - to - 250Hz detection by an interferometer. I've heard this described in a number of ways, more commonly a wave in the fabric of space
(space-time). Of course, I've never really heard a good explanation of what the fabric of space is. I keep seeing scientist drawing a grid like funnel. Or, and elastic grid weighed down by the mass of an object. In the case of a "Gravity Wave" --- all sorts of questions arise.
• What is the difference
(other than huge improvement in sensitivity and magnitude) today's experiment from that of the Michelson–Morley Experiment?
∆ Did the mysterious "
aether" appear?
∆ What is the different between a wave in "
aether " and a wave in "space-time."
--------
•∆• What actually waved causing a change detectible by the interferometer?
•∆• And ... How do we know the point of origin which caused detection by interferometer?
• Does this (whatever it is) that waved, have any characteristics. Is like a sheet with a thread-count? Or, is it more like a fluid?
Dark Matter and Dark Energy are just as mysterious to me.
• So Dark Matter is actually "cause" of "gravitational lensing" effects that cannot be explained.
∆ It doesn't have to be matter. It could be anything, yet undiscovered, that causes the effect.
∆ Could it be distortion caused by aether?
• Dark Energy is the effect that causes galaxies from flying apart.
∆ Could this be some effect of the undefined fabric of space?
∆ Do we understand the effect of gravity at a distance?
∆ Does the effect of this undefined energy dissipate at the rate of the inverse square law?
In order for the general society to appreciate this discovery more, they need to make a presentation that, in terms a layman can understand, understand what it is and why it could not be anything else.
Most Respectfully,
R
