Yep,They are supposed to apply for asylum when they cross the border leaving their country.
You must be physically present in the US or at a port of entry, demonstrate a well-founded fear of persecution based on race, religion, nationality, membership in a particular social group, or political opinion, and file your application (Form I-589) within one year of arriving in the US, with exceptions for changed or extraordinary circumstances.
The strange thing about asylum is that it forces most asylum seekers to break our law in to order apply. However Trump suspended asylum because of one of his 8 national emergencies he has going.
I wonder when the courts are going to tell him he can't use phony national emergencies in order to bypass the constitution and our laws.
