A few strange and odd happenings with the NEST thermostats, including "program shutdowns" that leave people without heat.
The NEST thermostat connects to the internet WIFI and allows you to change temperatures from your cell phone.
They describe the thermostat as a "learning" thermostat that learns your habits.
I recently had a commercial customer who took advantage of the Department of Water and Power program to install NEST thermostats and perform maintenance on the AC systems. The DWP was far more concerned about installing the NEST thermostats than they were about any maintenance.
I heard NEST is now owned by Google which is downright scary.
Some power companies install boxes on the AC that can shut them down at different times, but these agencies are taking a strange interest in getting involved with the WIFI thermostats.
