Once again we are not really 37. There are NO stabdards, each Country is free in each category reported to use what ever system they want to report with.
For example.... Live Births. In the US EVERY child that is alive AT the moment of birth is listed as a live birth, even the ones that have no chance of surviving more then a couple hours on their own. In other Countries live birth may mean the kid is a week old before they declare it a live birth.
And every category is like that. One can NOT compare Countires when one can not even know what the standard for repo0rting is and it is not a standard system for ALL countries.
The ranking comes from the World Health Organization, the directing and coordinating authority for health within the United Nations system. I believe their ranking system covers the pertinent points and should be considered accurate.
Really? Well, let's explore your asinine assertion that being part of the UN automatically makes one an accurate authority, shall we?
The UN Security Council, which serves as the governing body (as much as there is any governance at the UN), is made up of these members, in addition to the US itself: China, France, the Russian Federation, Austria, Bosnia/Herzegovina, Brazil, Gabon, Japan, Lebanon, Mexico, Nigeria, Turkey, and Uganda. Please tell me which of those countries you fly to to get your healthcare because they are so much better than the US.
But wait. We're not done yet. The World Health Organization is overseen by the World Health Assembly. Their Director-General is from Hong Kong, their Deputy Director-General is from Ghana. They have many people at the next level, Assistant Directors - General, and they hail from, in order: Iraq, the Dominican Republic, Canada, Somalia, France, South Africa, Japan, Russia, India, and Germany. Am I alone in seeing a theme here? Call me Ms. Suspicious, but I'm just not seeing a lot of objectivity OR democracy represented here, not to mention a lack of firshand knowledge of the United States and a telling number of lifelong careers in international politics.
I think it's your turn to tell us what, aside from having an important, official-sounding name, qualifies these people - or the UN in general, for that matter - to be accepted as accurate, unbiased sources of anything on just their own say-so.
