How can anyone trust the Dems enough to allow them to arbitrarily remove rights from people that they decide don't deserve them? Every piece of shit legislation they write comes with promises of no one will do this or that. Your guns are safe, they claim. Seriously? If you didn't get to keep your doctor and plan, you won't get to keep your guns if the left has their way. They are like children. Give them an inch and they take a mile. Their quest for gun control is just the beginning of their plan to ultimately disarm the American people. Just like everything in the past, they promise one thing and as soon as they set a precedent, they abuse their power. Remember, income tax was never supposed to go over 3% of our income. Social Security was supposed to be voluntary and never go above a small percent. Once they get something passed, they have their foot in the door and will eventually come barging in. It always goes that way. Promises don't mean shit, just like with Obamacare. They lie to get something past the people and then do what they always planned from the start. To hell with the people. To hell with rights. And yet, the useful idiots go along with the latest promises, knowing full well that we couldn't take them at their word in the past. Well, guess what? They are lying again now.
Now, they are asking us to trust them again to start down the road of strict gun control. They want a national registry, which has always been necessary for the eventual gun ban. They want to know where the guns are because they can't come take them in the future if they don't know who has them. Of course, they will only know where to find the legal guns.
They have their no-fly list, which one Dem senator claimed has 81,000 names on it, 1,000 of which are citizens. If there are 80,000 non-citizens on a terror watch list, then why the hell are they still here? The list is secret and most don't know or won't disclose what the criteria is for putting a person on the list. We know that Mateen should have been on it, but the same people who want us to trust them to know whether a person is a likely terrorist are the same ones that dropped the investigation into a terrorist and ensured that he could legally purchase a gun. He also had a gun for his job, which he supposedly passed a background check in order to get. I think the left would love it if they had the authority to deny anyone their rights on a whim. You can bet that every veteran, NRA member or conservative would be placed on the list and then it would be up to them to prove their innocence to get taken off it. Of course, that won't happen and it's completely backwards to begin with.
The Dems' gun control bill was a farce and one that couldn't and shouldn't be passed because it's unconstitutional. I think they knew it wouldn't fly, but they wanted to get people riled when it failed. They used it as a fundraising event. While the media focused on their tantrum on the floor, most of the lib media didn't see fit to talk about the 2 bills introduced by Republicans. They were constitutional and should have satisfied the left if they were worried about improving the background check process and maybe stopping some terrorists from getting guns. The left didn't like those because not only didn't it give them the unconditional authority they desire, it also would have shown that the Republicans were willing to take measures to make it harder to buy guns. Never mind that the criminals have their own way of doing things and never let a law stop them. Being able to take weapons away from people ensures that tyrants will never face a battle when they decide it's time to shred our constitution.
It would be reasonable to immediately deport anyone who is not a citizen and find themselves on the list. They also shouldn't have the same rights as citizens, especially when it comes to purchasing weapons because it's nearly impossible to do proper background checks on many foreigners. It's just that the Repub bills didn't allow government to arbitrarily remove people's rights on a whim. I guess that is why the left rejected them.
"One bill, sponsored by Senator Chuck Grassley (R-IA), would have strengthened the national background check system, encouraging states to send more updated information to the FBI. Almost every Republican supported it; nearly every Democrat voted against it and it failed to pass the 60-vote threshold, 53-47.
Another bill, sponsored by Senator John Cornyn (R-TX), would have given the attorney general the power to potentially block someone on the terrorist watch list from buying a gun. Even the NRA supported this bill. Almost every Republican supported it; nearly every Democrat voted against it and it again failed to pass the 60-vote threshold, 53-47.
So here we have two Republican-backed gun control bills which, while not perfect, do "something." But Democrats nearly unanimously voted them both down."
