We Have the Right to Assemble and Freedom of Religion - Unlawful Arrest of Preacher

Lock up the Preacher but don't touch the bars and establishments that cater to drunks and spring breakers and gambling establishments. The easy target is always the favorite. God help us if the crazies ever get hold of the Constitution. That's life in the modern world.

Try and keep up wid whas goin go boyo..........bars are closed at least here in florida...spring breakers were sent home, all the gambling casinoes here in florida have been closed.....geez where do all these idiots come from....is not there some way to put them in quarantine on another board somewhere out there in the darkness???

Looks like some of our government officials haven't read the Constitution.

---Pastor Rodney Howard-Browne was charged with misdemeanor counts of unlawful assembly---

It's unconstitutional and won't take many trips up the court to be proven so

Would you want your spouse, child or grandchildren exposed to a church attendee who may have been exposed? Try finding a jury that would all agree that this pastor was within his Constitutional rights to do so

Here in the Tremendous Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, religious institutions are specifically exempt from the closure rules. Remember as well that our governor is an ultraliberal extremist and the Secretary of Health is a She-Male. Yet they still recognize the right to free practice of religion. Of course, everything that's legal isn't necessarily wise, but I can't see banning it and arresting clergy.

Hey shit for brains(sorry I am running out of patience wid you dumbasses) the free practice of religion has not been restricted,,,,,,,recognizing you do not have to congregate with a few hundred other people to practice your religion.
What is wrong with you other than your blindless?

I think all these folks who want to mix and mingle and spread the virus hither and yon should be put out in the desert somewhere....a hundred miles from any intelligent people and let them all mix and mingle till they are dead as a dorrknell....git mah drift boyos?

It is threads like this that reveal just how many stoopids are out there running loose in America....very sad. No wonder the democratic party remains a threat to America.

However religious stupids disgust me even more than political stoopids. Religion is supposed to be about the love of your neighbor etc. How do these religious nut cases equate love of thy neighbor with giving him a deadly virus? Unfriggin believable.

How so?

We all know that violent and extremist islamic terrorists have no problem killing people to promote their religious views..........now I ask the religious nutcases on this board do they think by their willingness to kill people by exposing themselves and others to a deadly virus by practicing their religious belief of gathering together any better than these islamic fools?

See..."state of emergency", dope.

Show me where, in the Constitution, it authorizes government to use a manufactured “state of emergencey” as an excuse to violate it. Show me whee there's any language in the Constitution that even hints at such a power.

It's not in there. By intentional design it's not in there. The great men who wrote the Constitution certainly would have anticipated that if such a power were authorized, that a corrupt government would absolutely abuse it, in exactly the same way that we are now seeing this illegitimately and illegally-usurped power being abused. They would certainly never have included any language to give legitimacy to this sort of abuse.

You all think this is cute to limit Christians' rights to assemble now, but realize when the immune suppressed get together in the next regular flu season, when 60K people die anyway, and say ALL big gathering should be limited because they spread germs, you have less and less of a leg to stand on.

I mean I know these things like individual rights and freedoms are sooooo 18th century. But you might want to free your mind a little bit.
You're giving Christians a bad name right now, Sue. All big gatherings ARE limited right now because they spread germs. It's not just Christians.

Oh shaming. A "bad name". Heaven forfend
Are gatherings of more than ten people verboten or not? Concerts, sporting events, conventions? How is that "targeting" Christians? You might not have seen this post several pages back; there are alternative ways to worship right now. No one wants to stop you.
If I were a pastor, I wouldn't hold services in the church and put my parishoners at risk. I realize it's hard on people; if people ever needed their religion, it's now. But there are other ways: Some congregations are doing "drive in's" and others are doing services, readings, etc. on line. You can do Mass (well, you don't get the wafer) on EWTN. There are sermons on tv every Sunday where I live.

apparently this pastor already has a television program... i wonder if he put his flock & the rest of society in danger for some more PR?

Pastor Rodney Howard Browne | The Great Awakening Channel - Tampa, Florida

I saw a headline on TV a couple hours ago that 28 spring breakers have died the past couple days. I was in a clinic waiting room and there was no sound and I don't know the location. Anyone else know about this.

Please spare us the hyperbolic nonsense.

Everyone who's been paying attention knows that this whole hysteria has been deliberately over hyped for exactly the purpose of enabling the sort of government abuses that we are now seeing. Nobody is using this disease to kill anyone, with the possible exception of the corrupt parts of the government that manufactured this crisis. Useful idiots such as yourself are playing right into their hands, and dragging too many of the rest of us along with you.

ok-----does your religion require large assemblies?

Mine normally, does, but has made temporary modifications to cope with the current hysteria. But my religion is only one, out of tens of thousands.

Just because my religion can be practiced without some component doesn't justify denying other religions that component, if they consider it more essential.

ganja perhaps ... how about snakes? you think it's cool people use them as part of their religion?

And nobody is denying you this right. There is no requirement in the Bible for you to gather in large numbers twice on Sunday and once on Wednesday. You can worship your God from your house, in fact this is how the very first Christians did it.

It's cute that Godless atheists who hate Christianity think that they are somehow entitled to any credibility in lecturing us on what our religion does or does not require of us.

Your religion requires you to stay the fuck home.

Maybe in the dreams of libs.

But the reality is that 28 UT spring breakers tested positive for corona, they didn't die at all

When the Constitution was written, there was no such thing as a global pandemic.

Global, perhaps not. But the Founding Fathers were not unfamiliar with the idea of epidemics with large numbers of deaths, and I'm actually pretty sure they would have considered it a valid exception to freedom of religion and freedom of assembly, assuming it even occurred to them that someone would stupid and thoughtless enough to behave this way.

I have no problem with the snake handlers as they only endanger themselves unlike the nonsense that fool blaylock promotes.

If any member of his congregation dies from the virus as a result of attending these mass gatherings....the preacher should be charged with murder or at least of being an accessory to murder via co-operating with the needs of the chinese virus for groups of people in order to continue its profligation and survival. .

Also it must be remembered that such religious nutcakes live in communities, they have neighbors, they go to stores, work etc. where they come into contact with other people.....thus putting them and anyone else they come into contact with in danger.

This stupidity and ignorant criminal recklessness promoted by blaylock must be stopped and the participants must be prosecuted!

Furthermore just by coming on here and promoting such criminal conduct he personally should be prosecuted.

I think someone should notify the FBI of blaylocks promotion of such dangerous criminal gatherings. This sort of behavior should not be allowed on this or any board.

seems like the only ones here advocating for everyone to stay the fuck home so NOBODY GETS SICK & DIE ... are the libs.

Congress didn't make a law, did they?

A rather more obscure, separate issue to argue elsewhere, is over other parts of government usurping and exercising powers that belong to Congress; enacting and enforcing policies as if they have the force of law, without going through the proper legislative process of enacting them as valid laws.

I think it ought to be obvious that in starting the First Amendment with “Congress shall make no law…”, that the intent absolutely was not to suggest that any other part of government had the authority to enact policies that violate the rights enumerated thereafter. I think they clearly took it as a given that absent the restraint imposed by the First Amendment, it was only Congress that might try to violate those rights, so it was only Congress that needed to be forbidden from doing so.

Public safety, kid. Emergency measures and all that.
Sorry but the government is not my parent, Im old enough to decide what is best for me. The government only need to tell me how much tax I owe and then they can but out. They have yet to prove this is a real emergency and not a manufactured one,
Im old enough to decide what is best for me

Sure. Just not smart enough though to realize the risk your actions pose to others.
You no doubt have no problem with standing in line at the grocery store infecting others with impunity.
You're lucky no one knows what a piece of shit you really are. If they did, stand your ground would apply as you are threatening people's lives.

Almighty God delivered the "Sermon on the Mount" to a large multitude back in the day during a major Leprosy Pandemic. Coronavirus is a lot less nasty of a bug that leprosy
Leprosy still exists today and is curable, dope.
