Democracy is doomed. Or at least it is vulnerable… especially when mass communication rewards spectacle over competence.

What social media has done is not “break” democracy so much as remove many of the old filters that used to slow bad politics down.

For most of modern democracy, political power was filtered through institutions:

• parties
• editors
• local machines
• donors
• gatekeepers
• credentialed press
• slower news cycles

Those systems were flawed, elitist, and often exclusionary - but they did impose friction. Friction matters.

Australian flags were mistakenly hoisted in Washington, D.C., ahead of King Charles’ upcoming visit — in what could be described as a Down Under blunder.

On Friday, hundreds of national banners were installed across the capital to welcome the U.K. monarch, including British and American emblems. Somehow, Australian flags were also included.

Photos show clusters of Australian flags lining black lamp posts near the White House and the Eisenhower Executive Office Building.

The confusion may have stemmed from the design: the Australian flag features the Union Jack in the upper-left corner, but is distinguished by six white stars set against a blue background.

Taxes have always been high in New York in New York City. They don’t chase people away from New York or New York City because that is the place where you make money. The people that leave that area are people who are done making money and ready to spend money. The fact that you guys have no idea how an economy works or supply and demand just baffles the brain.

Meh. Look, New York and California disproportionately rely on the wealthy to pay for their taxes as should all America. If there weren’t safe Havens for wealthy people around this country, we could actually have a nation that has the wealthy pay it’s fair share. But as long as we have wealthy people who have purchased red state legislators that broadly, let them live unencumbered there is going to be a risk that wealthy people will dodge tax. But California added millionaires and billionaires to its population over the last five years.

How can one talk about “fair share” when the high annual income earners pay the bulk of the tax bill while the stewards of the funds ( i.e. elected officials) do not cut spending and simply demand more? They also resist attempts to cut waste, fraud and abuse. What people who demand more taxes from the rich don’t realize is that they eventually disincentivize motivation for high income earners to earn more or stay in any area that taxes way more than other “friendlier” states.

The fools(kids) and narcissists(know-it-all overgrown kids) in our populous are largely Democrats. This prophecy was fulfilled pre-Trump anyway.
