Wasn't The Point of Tariffs to Make Companies Open Factories Here?

Well, no...he imposed a lot of tariffs in the first term. Biden kept many of them in place. Where are the factories?
He’s done a horrible job

I can’t even remember Trumps first term tariffs but it was NOTHING like this

We were told that tariffs would return jobs to the US:

Since Trump blinked and removed the tariffs for 90 days, why would any company who was considering opening plants and factories here to avoid the tariff, now do so?

If the rest of the world removed tariffs and we did so as well, how would that coerce a company to return jobs to the US where they pay more for production than they would overseas? It wouldn't.

So again, what is the point of tariffs?
Trump was playing all of them with the Art of The Deal. I suspect many leftwing posters here never engaged in negotiations for anything more than at garage sales and don't know how it's done. He has made the deals he expected he would make all along.

Aren't you paying attention to what's happening in the middle east?... Trump has just secured three trillion dollars of investment from SA... the president of Syria who was once in a US army brig for being caught with Al Qaeda fighters just flew in to meet and shake hands with Trump... Trump is crushing this middle east trip and you are missing it.... while you bitch like a 12 year old girl on her first day of braces on her teeth....

Nahhhh, the impeachments were swift, not costly.

All these unconstitutional E/Os that Trump has put out is what is costing us millions for Doj or Whitehouse counsel to defend, and Elon Musks DOGE unconstitutional firings lawsuits are costing us a bundle and a half....too. Only for them to lose.
Degenerate democrats said they were going to sue over everything Trump did. They don't care how much it costs. They have a few activist judges to go along. Judges that are now getting challenged. At least one is under indictment.

Factory owners are probably relieved as they would fight against their laborers making 4 to 5x more for the same exact product made here than overseas.

Why is (Trump) so orange?” one of the kids asked.

“Say it again,” Jack said.

“Why is he so orange?” the student, joined by at least one more, asked.

“Uh … you know what, it … it’s your perspective,” Jack said. “It isn’t certainly mine. I just think he has a great tan.”

Yeah, he’s being bought by Qatar.
Trump has just secured three trillion dollars of investment from SA...
LOL...sure.
the president of Syria who was once in a US army brig for being caught with Al Qaeda fighters just flew in to meet and shake hands with Trump...
LOL...wow...and?
Trump is crushing this middle east trip and you are missing it....
In the old days, the lesser nations came to us...now that we’re a lesser nation...we’re going to them.
while you bitch like a 12 year old girl on her first day of braces on her teeth....
It seems you don’t want to talk about Trump caving in on the tariffs with China.

Can’t blame you. You’re acting like a 12 year old girl.

So no new manufcaturing jobs in the US for roughly the same deal China had in 2024.

Got it!

Trump's insane tariffs were on the brink of bankrupting small businesses all across the country and plowing farmers into the ground.

This still may happen since he has only reduced his tariffs to still-insane levels.

It just does not seem to penetrate his skull and the skull of his sycophants that AMERICANS PAY THOSE TARIFFS.

40 years of industrial drain will not be overturned and reversed in a few months.

If you understood reality that might not be so hard for you to grasp.

The point of our tariffs are quid-pro-quo to the others who have been smacking us with their tariffs for decades. Provide an incentive for them to engage in some honest and equal trade negotiations and terms.

Nobody has been smacking you with tariffs for decades. You had TRADE DEALS with all of these countries before TRUMP tore them up - AGAIN.

When will you learn that Trump LIES - about everything?

Why do Americans have to trade internationally? Serious question.

:laughing0301:

Man, Trump has you totally smoked!

I bet not even Trump has read The Art of the Deal.

Have YOU read the ghost-written Art of the Deal?

Let's take a gander at this excerpt:

I like the casino business. I like the scale, which is huge, I like the glamour, and most of all, I like the cash flow. If you know what you are doing and you run your operation reasonably well, you can make a very nice profit. If you run it very well, you can make a ton of money.

:auiqs.jpg:

Between 1992 and 2014, Trump declared bankruptcies for his casinos FIVE TIMES!

Who the FUCK loses money on casinos!?!

"The Art of the Deal." BWA-HA-HA-HA-HA!

Also, about bringing jobs and factories back to America: I believe there is an easier way to achieve that than some stupid tariffs. Just pass a law that literally forces American companies to stay in the country. Yes I know this is bad, fascist, dictatorial, possibly unconstitutional, yadda yadda yadda, but the thing is, your government already uses the coercive power of the state to force worse things on Americans. I don't see what's wrong with using the same tactic. And this time it's for a very worthy goal, you know, to bring jobs back.

Why do Americans have to trade internationally? Serious question.
Ask our hypocritical President.

Which means what they make will cost consumers 4-5 times more to purchase ~ use.
You see this as a positive for consumers ???
