The USG has and will continue to be in the business of combating foreign interference into our elections, which uses social media as their main tool.Look, I don't give a flying crap what people do on Twitter, the fact remains that we now have it confessed beyond a shadow of a doubt that government entities have been working with if not pressuring social media companies to alter or restrict content on a number of fronts in the government's interest. The idiot Joe Biden has even admitted as much and championed it. In effect, creating a partnership with private industry to do through them what the government is not allowed to do themselves, openly and directly, circumventing the intent of the law.
Zuckerberg has told us how the FBI has come to him repeatedly with directives on content that might help Trump or hurt Biden, and before that, he was hip deep in tampering with the 2020 election giving 413 million dollars to shadow organizations which would be proactive in scurrilously affecting election proceedings to stop Trump from being reelected.
So no, there is no unjustified "frenzy." Just alarm at another egregious violation perpetrated by our government.
